About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Cart scramble
Had a tee time for 3 people when arrived there were people standing everywhere , we ended up having to wait for players to be done with there round for an available cart , we went out hour and half later than our tee time with a complete backup, paid in full for 18 played 9 holes , after round we were told to speak to a manager Monday , when speaking to the manager nothing was done . Can’t recommend this place take your business else where

Surprised by good conditions
Surprised by how good the greens and fairways were. Very pleasant round
Too slow
You need to tell people that are booking on Golfnow when there is a society day. It was so busy and hardly any of the groups could play golf, let alone respect the pace of play. We gave up after 14 holes as we were looking at a 5 hour round.
Narrow!
Nice woodsy course but very narrow in spots. Need to make straight shots or pay the price! Staff very helpful. Nice pro shop. Some beautiful views on the course. Peaceful place!
A well-kept secret in Central Suffolk County
I always love playing here. This course seems to bring out the best in me. Tree-lined and narrow. It forces me to focus on aim and concentration. It is a beautiful setting. Golfers I get paired with are shocked when I tell them I drive almost an hour to play there but it is well worth the ride. After 2:30 is a perfect time because I almost have the course to myself.
