Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Ruined our golf day
These guys didn't put the correct schedule in their app so they booked us. Three days prior they call us telling us that they had an outing and they would have to cancel our tee time.
Three days from now there is nothing available to book anywhere else. They offered no other accommodations outside a refund.
A very bad resolution for something they screwed up
Traps and Grass Cutting
MICC is my home course. A little expensive for my taste.
Sand traps need to be screened of rocks, come on put in real sand.
There was an outing, no problem, but is that the day, 10am tee off, to cut the grass and dust? Really?
Three 9 hole courses
There are 3 courses that intertwine each other and are very easy to navigate. With 3 separate 9 hole courses, you can mix and match which courses to play to make your 18 hole round different every time.
MICC Cancellation
Showed up 20 minutes before our tee time after it had just rained for 45 minutes and they wouldn’t let us out. We were going to walk an 18 but it didn’t matter to them. They sent us away and didn’t offer anything in return just said go deal with GolfNow for your refund. We drove down the road to Spring Lake and were able to play luckily. Weather was great after the rain shower and there was no reason to not let us go out.
Sunday golf
It’s was not worth $90. Small shelf of random snacks and drinks. Bar didn’t open till 1030 am which is only place you can get real food. They had a snack cart going around with the same amenities. I asked if there was a snack shack, which she acknowledged, but failed to tell me it opened later, even though I was on the 9th and told her I would just go there. Staff wasn’t super nice nor mean. Very average experience. They had a ranger that should’ve had a slow paced group speed it up off the bat, but he pretty much stayed around the turn/ first tee. Course was in great shape. Very tough course especially the greens, so there was def a challenge. It was a nice place to play one time, but for the value and lack of amenities, probably just a one time thing..
Great Course but nothing else
The course is in great shape. It’s 3 9 holes so pace of play wasn’t a huge issue especially compared to other public courses on LI. The pro shop was nicely stocked but they offer zero food . The driving range is not maintained at all and the bathrooms were overflowing with feces water by 9am . So moral of the story, the golf was great but make sure you eat first and don’t need to use the indoor facilities.
Trash
Over booked leading to horrible pace
Over priced
Bunkers filled with rocks and roots. Not to mention are closer to mud than sand.
Greens need to cut so the ball actually rolls
Wouldn’t play here again til prices are cut
Nice course for high handicappers
Played on a beautiful Monday afternoon. Im a 30 handicap and this course was built for players like me. Fairways are very forgiving as they are wide with a few scattered bunkers for errant long hitters.
Rough was high so jeep it on the fairway.
Greens in good condition and true to line.
Good value for the average golfer.
A must Try
I loved this course even though without a starter when you play 18 you have to ask where the 10th hole is.
I really enjoyed myself. Was slightly rushed with a group of two driving up on us every hole. great place to at least practice early in the morning or late in evening.
