Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Greed has gotten to this course
Showed up for a 9:00am tee time drove out to starter. This is a 3 course 9 hole set up. The starter area looked like New Years Eve at Time square. People all
Over the place waiting to go out. I had played here several times this season so I asked the starter and ranger what was going on. I was told that there was up to a half hour delay because ownership was setting tee times 5 minutes apart. Every starting hole had a group on the box 1 in the fairway and one on the green with at least 2 groups waiting. The shape of the course has gone down hill. Lots of dead spots in fairways some greens are shot. Sorry to see the almighty dollar ruin this course.
Greatday
Of course was in great shape the pace of play was good on the front nine by the back nine it did slow up a bit but overall it was a great day play great golf course was in great condition the level of each hole was great some holes were easy part three is dog legs nice bunkers I was very pleased
HORRIBLE CONDITION , SLOW PLAY AND WORST VALUE
Don’t play here . Absolutely horrible conditions and horrible value . $90 to play a cow pasture with an incompetent starter . I’ve played this course for 2 years and worse it’s ever been .
Long and Narrow
Even from the regular men's tees this course plays long and there are a number of narrow holes, especially on the Dogwood 9. Many par 4s over 400 and uphill. I think this course plays better for longer and more accurate hitters. Conditions were good... tees a big "worn" but fairways and bunkers good... greens a bit worn too but playing fast.
Dogwood and Spruce are enjoyable
Played in light rain. Course is in better condition than previous years
Well Worth The Ride
Middle Island is a long and tight and challenging course. They keep it in very good condition. The staff is extremely accomodating and friendly. But bring your own drinks and snacks because they do not always have a cart person.
Middle Island
Good course but a bunch of the greens are destroyed by divots not there fault but greens could use a little extra tlc from staff and ppl who use the course its not hard to fix ur divots
Slow but not courses fault
Just got in our round, due to the very slow group ahead of us, the course was in good shape, especially since we had just come out of a recent storm. Tee boxes were a little chewed up, might need to move them more often, and a little crab grass clearing would go a long way. However on the whole a good round on a good day, will be back.
Finally a break from heat
Today is a break from a long string of high temp heat which lasted prob month and 1/2. Played Oaktree to Spruce, front 9 need course management to avoid rough and trees. Back 9 needs to put ball at places to have a chance to use your long iron/woods to get on the green. Over-all fun would keep coming back!!
Spruce course was nice, dogwood greens were beat up.
