Intransigent Mike incapable of effective pace of play management
Mike from the saxon woods golf course has poor manners and in his attempt to enforce foursome play rudely forced a 20 minute wait for start of play in full course

Course is in great shape
We always love Saxon Woods. Some holes very challenging, others give you a break. Personnel very nice and helpful. Course is very well maintained.

Five hour round
Late tee times often have this problem. I knew it but went to play anyway. The course is in much better condition compared to Maple Moor. Greens were unusually quick.

Very nice public course
Really nice NY public course. Gets very backed up on weekends, and can be overpriced, but find a good deal and you’ll have a good time.

Ranger adds insult to injury
Pace of play was painfully slow. Although our foursome had started with at least one open hole ahead of us, we had caught the group ahead by the third tee and had a considerable wait on each succeeding tee. We were the third group on the eighth tee when we arrived there. Just as we were finally clear to hit the Ranger who was nowhere to be seen for the prior two hours arrived and started harassing us to speed up. The rudeness and indeed incompetence of this “official” left a bad taste in my mouth. We quit after nine holes. Not going back.

Closed...
Get to the course already to play at 7am. Walk up to pro shop, old guy shouts “we’re closed!” I say you don’t call anyone the night before to say you’re closed and your tee time is cancelled? He just give me an oh well gesture. Safe to say...won’t schedule a tee time here again.

Beautiful course
Course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Had a great time will definitely play there again.

Busy and beautiful
The course is laid out pretty well. Not too many blind tee shots and the fairway hits are fairly flat. You can walk this course fairly easily as well. I will probably play again once it gets cooler. The course plays way to slow to be out there when it’s 90 plus degrees.

First time this year
The starter allowed a man who had obviously never played or even spent time at the range. He severely held up play and the rangers should have removed him and refunded his fee.

Wear a Mask Staff!
Went to buy snacks after the 8th hole but the person behind the counter didn't have a mask on. I asked her to put one on and she gave an emphatic NO, she was too hot. I asked again and she said for me to just stand back if I was worried. Actually, it wasn't even that hot out, and the shack is in the shade. Come on, this is NY! It's a REQUIREMENT! I hope someone from course mgmt reads this. .

We love Saxon Woods....pace of play needs attention
My wife and I love Saxon Woods. We try and play here once a week when it’s open. We played last Sunday, we were 2 golfers and we had a 3:46 tee time, we hit a few balls on the range and approached the first tee a few minutes before scheduled time. We were informed that there was threesome in front of us and we said that was ok. The group in front of us had already teed off. We enjoyed the first hole and the group in front of us seemed to be moving along. When we got to the fourth tee the threesome in front of us was now 5 golfers. It went downhill from there. On the 9th tee, another group of 5 (no idea where they came from, they seemed to appear out of no where) and the 5 in front of us were we’re all waiting and the backup continued. It took 40 minutes to play the 9th hole. We didn’t see a ranger anywhere while we played. We played the 10th hole and packed it in.....3 groups waiting on the 11th tee, a foursome and two groups of 5, 14 people waiting on the 11th tee.....not fun!
Surprised the Ranger didn't come and call YOU out. That is their usual MO...
