Great Course
Well maintained for a course with alot of play. Got a Hot Deal from GN otherwise as a non-resident of Westchester I would have paid about $20 pp more. Not so cheap, but convenient for me and my partner.
Great Course!
Well maintained Muni had a 2pm tee time and finished the round in 4 hours. I live on Long Island (Nassau) and my brother in New Haven so we meet/play in Westchester when possible.
SLOW as Molasses
What ruined a perfect day with nice folks and great playing was WAITING on every hole!
The ranger did nothing to move along the 2 groups in front of us and it made for a slog of a long day.
Evening Golf & Dinner
Played evening golf. The pace of play was very slow with waiting for 2 groups in front of us and one being walkers. Ranger did tell them to pick up the pace but it didn’t help. We would have gotten at least 2-3 more holes in if we weren’t waiting on EVERY hole. Went to the restaurant after playing 12 holes and it was fantastic!!!!!
Golfers beware
Played a round with my nephew who has a junior pass. Tee box and green conditions were as bad as it gets. Fun day despite the ranger and management staff. I had my nephew hop on the cart to speed up play, the ranger stopped us on the fairway of the 6th hole. After 10 minutes of being berated for letting an 11 year old on the cart we were forced to give him my credit card to continue the round... they tacked on a $47 fee for this so-called crime and an addition $70 with a note that said he wasn't a Junior member??? at the turn, we were greeted by the Rangers manager only to be accused of not following the rules (more confusion from all directions) Never seen this level of unprofessionalism from a golf course, they were all so angry it was bizarre. The group behind us couldn’t believe that the club staff was root cause of slow play, we were all laughing at the ridiculousness of the staff. It’s clearly their first job at a golf course. Get better
Maple Moor
Flew round in 4 1/2 hrs. Course was very wet, I think they use the sprinklers heavy in the morning and the course was pretty much waterlogged.
Greens super slow but true.
All in all good day, good value.
Ugh
A lot of work was done upgrading the course a few years ago and, for a couple of years, the track was quite good. I played yesterday for the first time in two years. Yikes. The fairways are beaten up beyond what one would expect based on usage and weather alone. Half the greens have brown spots, lots of hallmarks (not the course's fault, of course, but attributable to the kind of golfers the course attracts). I only got into one bunker and it was in beautiful condition, so that's a plus if others are in the same shape. Lastly, the one thing that the County didn't do in the rehab was to fix the cart paths.. Imagine roads in the worst third-world country and double it. Between the paths and the fairways, you may need a kidney transplant by the end of your round, There are other Westchester courses in much, much better condition, so don't waste your money on Maple Moor until it's in better shape.
