Saxon Woods Golf Course

Good day at Saxton Woods. As a result of the back to back rain days, the fairways were wet and carts had to stay on paths. Also i chose to play the course Easter Sunday, so their restaurant was close. Lol I was hungry after the first 9!

The course was in good shape. The pro shop, starter and food folks were gracious. The rangers did little to speed up the pace of play. A 4some of junior players had no clue on how to behave on the course. They reminded my 4some of the movie Caddy Shack.. However if the pace of play was monitored it would have been a fine round.

Almost 80 degrees, under 4 hour round, for this early in the season, course and greens and even the bunkers were in good shape.

For a public course, this was a good enough and then some. For a Sunday afternoon, the pace was a little slow. But, the pro shop and all other staff were exceptionally pleasant. The nature of this game is that nice weekends will generally bring more hackers than usual out, so the consequences crowded courses.

Glad I managed to play before it closes for winter.

Course was in great shape. Very fair course. If you get into trouble, you deserve it!

Greens were awesome! Fairways excellent. Tee boxes were ok but this late in the season a little worn but still good.

Highly recommend except when I book, everyone else should stay home so as not to crowd me!

Fun course! They just punched and dressed the front nine greens. I would wait a week to play again till the greens come back. Over all a great course. Course management a must here. Not a grip and rip course

Time of play was above average for a public course. Course was in good shape. Lovely layout, though tight in some places. Overall, we were very pleased.

You need to let people know cart paths only before they book a tee time!

Saxon has improved over the years with better upkeep by the greens keeper. Not a long course but can be tight on some holes. Good 19th hole.

Every course on golf now gets 4 stars!!!

Played Twice in last 2 weeks.

Saxon Is a muni that plays more like a high end public/private course. It's a solid 4 Star public course.

The layout is great. If you appreciate old course designs that are well maintained. This is a course for you.

It got a little slow on back, but not awful.

Rangers are everywhere! They do their best.

This course is now one of my favorites.

Conditions are great right now. Fairways & greens solid shape. I rank it above Hudson Hills, Centennial, Richter, or Sterling Farms I give those courses 3Stars. Oak Hills 2.

Where it can improve

The driving range is a blight (caddyshack) and takes away from the Old Tudor Charm and class it could have. Would not be disappointed if they bulldozed it tomorrow and put a short game practice facility in there. Not a fan of Limited distance balls!

And golfnow has chipping green that's wrong....

our tee time was 12:49...there was alarge group of men ..about 20 before us..we didn' t get out till after 1PM.

We had to leave by the 5th hole for an appointment.

it was not a happy day!

good muni, would play again. great restaurant. only issue was that played in afternoon and very hot but the few water coolers out there were never filled and empty. Sunday and no cart girl, only half way shack.

first ever course i played with this poor conditions. the course itself was great if not for this. this was only reason for only 3 stars, could have been 4.
