Saxon Woods Golf Course

I showed up to starter as a single he was older guy white hair and suggested he put me with the threesome teeing off in front of me & he began a 15 minute rant about how us golfers were inconsiderate of everyone etc.. so a typical of a government worker who hates his job. Where I work we don’t insult the customers or argue with them right or wrong. I’ll never go back.

Considering all the recent rain, the course was in great condition. The greens rolled consistent. The pace of play was good, waiting for shots was minimal.

My first time to play here. We often walk. So big tree, perfect fairway made us really relaxed. Today is best day of the week in term of the weather, so it was a little bit crowded. I didn't get a good result but i like the course. Not very far from NYC, but reasonable and beautiful! I'll keep coming back!

Saxon is a great course to play as a muni but it’s always a slow round. Sometimes there’s two foursomes waiting on a hole to tee off. It’s even worse now that Maple Moore up the street is closed due to construction.

Quite a few blind spots, about a third of the holes. A good challenge with water coming into play on a number of holes. There’s a $5 cash deposit for the cart, which seems a bit odd given that you hand it over right after the eighteenth. Staff is friendly. Big putting green to practice on prior to start and the range has you oddly shooting across the first leg of the challenging tenth hole. There’s a bell to be rung here to stop the range hitters, as well as one on the front nine at the 6th. Food concession after the 7th hole, which is where the on course bathrooms are.

This is a follow-up to a prior review where I gave the course 4 stars. I like the course just as much and think 3.5 is the right score. If you like a parkland course over terrific terrain with elevations, ridges, blind and semi-blind shots, mounds, and sloped greens, you will like this course. The course is laid out wonderfully over and through distinctive but not extreme elevations. The greens can be tricky with difficult reads. Some of the green complexes get repetitive but overall they are fun. This is a very enjoyable course.

Took us 1 hour to play 3 holes. The group In front of us were picking up balls, putting them in sand traps, and taking as many as 11 shots to attempt to exit. When I called the desk it took 20 minutes for the ranger to come out. Following that he told us to relax that there was no where to go. Except when the next few holes came up there were no groups in sight in front of the disrespectful group in front of us. I spoke with the gentleman about all of this at the desk when we got in from the round, barely finishing 9 holes when we started at 5:20, he shrugged his shoulders at me and said nothing.

Great course ...first time played...car path only due to multiple rainy days..,difficulty finding ball when hit off fairway....grass too high!...greens great shape...

Good day at Saxton Woods. As a result of the back to back rain days, the fairways were wet and carts had to stay on paths. Also i chose to play the course Easter Sunday, so their restaurant was close. Lol I was hungry after the first 9!

The course was in good shape. The pro shop, starter and food folks were gracious. The rangers did little to speed up the pace of play. A 4some of junior players had no clue on how to behave on the course. They reminded my 4some of the movie Caddy Shack.. However if the pace of play was monitored it would have been a fine round.

Almost 80 degrees, under 4 hour round, for this early in the season, course and greens and even the bunkers were in good shape.

For a public course, this was a good enough and then some. For a Sunday afternoon, the pace was a little slow. But, the pro shop and all other staff were exceptionally pleasant. The nature of this game is that nice weekends will generally bring more hackers than usual out, so the consequences crowded courses.

Glad I managed to play before it closes for winter.

Course was in great shape. Very fair course. If you get into trouble, you deserve it!

Greens were awesome! Fairways excellent. Tee boxes were ok but this late in the season a little worn but still good.

Highly recommend except when I book, everyone else should stay home so as not to crowd me!
