My favorite public course in NY
This course has exellent conditions, pace of play was great and I was paired with a fun group. After the day had a bite at the pub, Great day!
Good Greens, Slow Pace of Play
This course isn't too long and there are several interesting holes that make you think about where to place your shot. Greens were in great shape. Played on July 4th, so I wasn't expecting a fast round. I think it took about five and a half hours to finish, but that's consistent with most of the weekend rounds in and around NYC. There a few holes that are parallel to each other and groups end up crossing paths or hitting into each other, which also slows things down a bit. Worth also mentioning that the sprinklers go off randomly, which seems true of all Westchester courses.
Despite the slow pace and sprinklers, I think it's one of the best Westchester public courses that I've played.
Best I have seen it
I had played earlier in the spring and the greens were rather bumpy. But today the greens were very smooth and looking the best I have seen them.
Completely satisfied.
Interesting layout always a challenge. Course was in great condition. The short holes require accurate placement. Once on the green the challenge is not over, stay below the hole.
County Course in Great Condition
Have played Saxon Woods many times in the past, but not for two years prior to this. Compared to the last time played, the course is in very good condition and well maintained. We were told there is a new greens keeper. At any rate, the fairways and greens were impeccable, which seemed to help underscore the inherent beauty and interest of the place. Reasonably challenging for just about any level of skill.
Course in great condition ...
Saxon Woods was in great shape when i played with my foursome on May 19th ... it was surprisingly not crowded and weather was perfect. The greens were a little fast but it challenged you ...
We had a great time ...

Very well maintained course and had courteous staff. Always having GPS helps when its first time playing the course. Would have liked some more water hazards, I would say maybe 2 or 3 holes do. Would definitley return especially with HOT DEAL rates. Albeit there was one extremely slow party of 4 elderley women that held everyone up with no ranger coming around the whole round on a fully packed day. That would be the only complaint, since it took about 4:45-5 to finish.

Saxon is always in good condition. The greens are true and fast. The course is always well-maintained and the layout is interesting. The course isn't a long course but it's an enjoyable around.
Good course, little slow
Course was in great condition for being the beginning of the season, well maintained all around, greeens play fairly easy some harder one out there. Only bad part was a slow round and it was not a crowded day there so can only imagine on a crowded day what the pace would be like.
Nice course, undulating fairways, good greens
This course is a good layout, with a nice variety of holes. You play up, down and around undulations. Nice slope and contour to the greens but nothing excessive. In decent shape. I would give it 3-1/2 stars if that was an option.
Nice course. Slow play.
This was my first time playing a Westchester County course, and it was very nice considering it is the start of the season. Surprisingly, the greens were in very good condition, and quick! I was told that it's the most popular Westchester County course, and can see why. The scenery will be really nice once the warmer weather stays. It's a short course, I mostly hit 3-wood or an iron off the tee, but placement is key. It's a challenging course. A good place to work on irons and putting. The pace of play was terrible. I think it has to do with the fact that so many people walk the course. There are a lot of trees, traps, and rolling fairways that walking can be time consuming. I think that making the course a mandatory riding cart course would definitely increase pace of play. Also, there are many holes that are right on top of each other you have to be alert for other people hitting. I would recommend this course only if you can commit to a 5-5 1/2 hour round or if you get one of the early tee times.
Thank you for the review! Please come and play again soon!
