Saxon Woods Golf
Course itself was not easy at all...not sure if slow pace of play had to do with it or not but even on a weekday, this place was packed. Tee boxes were fine as well as the fairways. The greens were a bit slow. Got the tee time on a hot deal for $30 so no complaints. Played with a friendly group and overall had a fun round.
The grill at the course was great. Had one of the burgers which came out quick and tasted excellent. Good service as well.
great course and staff
a few narrow fairways on the back 9 make this course a challenge...lots of hills and great vistas...very recommended!
Good but poorly managed
Teed off almost an hour after our tee because they didn't have any golf carts available for us to use. Finally got on the course and it was littered with walkers on every hole leading us to believe they just do not have enough golf carts. Took over 4 hours to play 13 holes and then had to leave due to darkness. Good course in decent condition but the starter lacked professionalism and the required job skills. Do not recommend this course
Great course and great food!
Played here on a Tuesday afternoon. Had lunch before tee time at the Saxon grill. Food was good and price wasn't bad at all. It was an actual restaurant quality burger and not like the typical frozen patty burger you get at a lot of the other courses. To the golf portion. Starter was friendly and prompt. We were easy and he let us go right away. Course itself is maintained and on the challenging side from the back tees. Pace was a bit painful as the round lasted over 5 hours. This was NOT due to slow play but rather the volume of golfers on the field. Ranger was out the whole time nudging people in front to pick up the pace.
Nice Course
Hadn't played here for some time. They have obviously made a lot of cosmetic improvements which add to the enjoyment of the golfing experience.
Greens needed some attention. Overall a fun place to play.
Really nice course
I've played every public course in Westchester county and I feel that Saxon Woods is the nicest of all of them, I will definitely go back again. The course was in great shape and is very forgiving for a hacker like me.
Had a good time! Well maintained!
Had a good time. Well maintained. I will recommend to my friends.
The natural terrain just isn't that suitable to the game of golf. Poor sight lines to the targets.
The course doesn't play as well as it should considering the nice conditions and varied terrain. For example, the par 3s on the front nine do not play like the scorecard yardage because one is an elevated tee and the other had the hole well up a hill. The longer holes have random large mounds that obscure the pin placement but do not strategically factor into the hole. You would have to play the course a lot to get to know the idiosyncrasies...but it doesn't seem worth it.
Good quality for an okay public course in the area.
The staff is so bad here, the service is unbelievable. All the staff in the golf shop is very non-attentive and doesn't care who they make mad in the process. They may know about the business, but they do not have customer service skills in the slightest. Good luck.
Good muni course. Challenging layout.
Shortness of course is made up form with interesting layout. Greens in great condition.
Good course to play.
Good course to play all staff very friendly. Course is in very good condition from tee box through the green but we have to be ready for the slow players do not let this bother you.
Nice Course.
Nice course with a few challenging holes. Very well kept. Will definitely be back again.
The course is a good muni course
The course is good, greens are ok. I think it would be alot more fun to play if the rangers paid attention to pace of play.
A good course to test your level of play
I enjoy playing here because of the challenges it presents. The strategy of driving the bal to a predetermined location is very important to complete the hole with a par or even a bird. Miss those locations and you are in for a long round.
Where's the hole
So many holes require course knowledge because of either a blind tee shot or approach. Pace of ply is often too slw. Par 3's are uncreatine but the par4s make up for it with a mix of long and short holes with elevation changes and afew forced carries. Too arrow in places for the hacker.
Semi-Driving Range
The course has a "miniature" driving range more suited for chipping than driving. We ran into a couple of immature players, but i guess this is to be expected at the price we paid
rough way too thick for amateurs
liked some of the hole upgrades, holes 3-8 way too tough. back nine enjoyable but then again it took a lot of holes to get warmed up and hitting it solid. judged to be fun overall after the round but the rough was so thick and punishing that the score became moot. not a good feature
Friendly staff and a fun course to play with some very challenging holes .
Overall a pleasant day of golf. The course is not in pristine condition, but considering the amount of play it receives it is very playable. Quite a few tight holes and some small greens, but overall a fair test. The pace was slow but not agonizing. I would return for another round.
