NY Rich
This course starts out with a few short holes then becomes more difficult nice layout rewards good shots
Great value
I've played this course many, many times. I consider Saxon Woods my home course. I was surprised to see the "hot deal" was $15.00 cheaper than my resident rate. Great value.
u000005706511,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are happy to hear that you continue to come back! We can't wait to see you again.
Saxon woods grew on me
Did not have high expectations for the course and the first two holes were very basic, but the difficulty of the course grew and the back nine is a fine test of golf. Amazed the course was so wet when other courses in the area are bone dry (blue Hill) but they may have just had a storm that night as well. Par 4 10th is tough but the 14th is a classic hole which could be in many private country clubs. Great value with golf now.
aussie62,
Thanks for the review! We are happy to hear that we exceeded your expectations. We hope to see you soon!
Saxon woods
Great course, easy layout.
u321931127,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a 5 star review. We think its pretty great too! We hope to you soon.
Nice course but slow play.
Nice course but slow play. I booked 18 holes on golf now and got a great deal. I teed off Friday afternoon and had to quit after nine holes since it took two hours and 45 minutes. I suggest playing early in the morning on weekdays to beat the crowd.
John4987114 ,
Thanks for your feedback. We apologize for the slow pace of play and any inconvenience this may have caused you. We will address this issue internally as making our golfers happy is of utmost importance to us. We hope to see you soon.
Fun forgiving track
2nd time playing this course. Conditions were always good and staff was always friendly. Only thing was last time I played on a weekend and pace was brutal. Today with predicted rain, the course was practically empty and finished 18 holes in just under 4 hours. After work golf with slight overcast along with little to nobody on the course. It's like I was blessed today but I know this place gets packed. Overall, Saxon is a great friendly track in which just about anyone can enjoy.
Thank you for your review and feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience it may cause you when our course gets busy, but we hope this doesn't deter you from coming back. Thanks for playing!
Fun course.
It's a fun course. Not incredibly long, but fun. It's great for the people who don't hit the ball very long. Will go back.
Thanks for the review! We're so glad to hear that you had a fun day spent on our course. Come back soon!
Local Knowledge Important...
…Especially on the front 9. This is a rolling wooded golf course, with some blind shots and small undulating greens. There is very little margin for error here. If you're off the fairway you’re probably in the woods. My favorites were #5, par4, which plays uphill to a green with a huge mound in the back and that’s where they had the pin, treacherous. And #11, a shorter par 4 dogleg left that requires a forced carry off the tee and again to the green. Conditions were good.
Thanks for leaving all of these tips for future golfers! We appreciate it as it helps them know what to expect from our course. Hope to see you on the course again soon!
fun course
fun course...a little quirky on a few holes but would definitely recommend.
Thanks for the review and recommendation! Hope to see you soon.
Fun and Quirky
I have played Saxon many times over the years and the conditions have definitely improved. Shorter course but really nice. Shorter does not mean easy btw
Thanks for the review, Chris! We are thrilled to hear that you have noticed improvement in our course. Please come back soon and play with us again!
Solid Course
Despite the late start time and the consistent drizzle for the front 9, this was a very good course to play. Relatively forgiving, and the greens weren't anything horrible except for perhaps 1 or 2 that are very difficult. Be prepared to wait, though, as this place gets PACKED as the season goes along here. I'd certainly recommend playing here.
Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our course and apologize for the wait! We hope you decide to come back soon for another round.
Slow play.
Teed off at 1:15. Carts had to be back by 4:30.pace of play was very slow.only played 12 holes. But still a good course.go out earlier
Nice public course
Well maintained , greens still recovering from aeration but some tuff reads .
One of the better Westchester County Public Courses
Course is in nice condition including greens, which rolled true, and traps, which actually had sand. Some tee boxes could be leveled however. Pace was good considering this course gets a lot of play. Course ia average length from the white tees, but still some challenging holes.
Course was great/Staff could use some work
My day had not even started yet when I was on the range warming up with a 60 degree wedge hitting the plastic balls no more than 75yds. Every mat was occupied when we all heard the bell for the golfers to cross. We all proceeded to wait until they had crossed and were out of view. As every single person on the range started hitting driver again I went back to my 60. This is when I see the ranger driving directly at me only to ask me "if I was too dumb to understand the rule." He then continued to stay in front of me and try to embarrass me while each and every person on the range continued to hit. I've played at this course many times as I live a few blocks away and have never been spoken to like I was yesterday in front of my good friend who had come to visit and play Saxon Woods because I said it was great. If I ever spoke to someone like that at my job I would be gone in a matter of minutes. There is a way to handle things and a way to drive people away and obviously he chose the latter. I just thought this was the type of thing a beautiful facility like Saxon would want to know about, especially when the entire staff from the other rangers to the bar/restaurant staff were SO great and professional.
Great Condition and demand on shot making
The course was well presented and although short it made up for that with a demand on shot making.
It was spoilt by slow play and lack of marshals. The group in front were two holes behind.
Saxon Woods G.C.
Played with a family of 3 who knew the course layout. Although there had been a good rain the night prior, the course was in excellent shape and only a few places where there was standing water. Overall condition of the course was excellent and there were a nice variety of holes with doglegs, up and down some moderate hills, trees, sand and some water. Only quirky aspect of the course was the driving range hitting over our path up the 10th fairway!!!! The greens were in good shape and they putted well. Just make sure you stay below the hole on many of them. I would definitely play the course again. Thoroughly enjoyed the course.
great time!
This is a fun course. I'm a beginner, and there's plenty of challenging holes, and abundant beauty on this course.
Good course
I went out with my sons to get in an early year round. The course conditions were like any other course who had a rough NY winter. It was good practice round to get back into swinging the clubs. Will try the course later this summer when conditions are better of course, but overall the course has a nice layout.
Thank you for the feedback, Richard! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your round with us and we hope to see you again soon!
