Fun Course
The greens were in great shape. Most tee boxes were ok and the fairways are pretty much only cut, no watering etc. it made for some challenging shots. Would definitely play here again, friendly staff and a nice bar and restaurant.
Course
T boxes are a little rough but greens and fairways are fine. Most holes are blind so it makes play interesting. Long for 9 hole course
Great little course
Great little track. 7 of the 9 holes are blind(adds to the course), a challenge if you don't have a playing partner who knows the course.
Wonderful time at this great little course
We booked this through Golfnow and thought a tit would be a good excuse to go to Shelter Island. The ferry ride and ride to the course was beautiful and this is a very special place lost in time. The staff was exceptionally friendly, play was very fast, greens were tricky. It’s a short 9 hole course, but we went around twice. I would call it a backyard course because it isn’t groomed like a country club but it was great fun to hit over and up the hills. If you are a pro, don’t go but if you want a low key and fun day, try it. The restaurant sits at the top of the 9th hole and was excellent.
Goat Hill
A great little challenging 9 hole course
You’ll wish yo were a 🐐
Love this place, please, if you suck as a human and are a cidiot, stay away from here….
You are not welcome..!!!!!
Great relaxing morning round of golf.
Very nice traditional course, great staff, challenging for first timer with many interesting blind shots, requiring serious course management. I really enjoyed the vibe as well as great food at the clubhouse. Highly recommended...
Hilly old track
Very simple old style course loaded with hills and elevation changes. No fairways, but tees and greens are in place. A bit dry right now due to so little rain. Fun to play, peaceful place, great clubhouse restaurant. Nice views.
Pay what you get
It wasn’t expensive so can’t complain but this is more like playing in a backyard than a golf course. However the staff was extremely nice and friendly and pace of play was fine bc no one was really playing. Just wish they actually maintained the course
Great public course
Everyone one on staff is great!
. Course is more challenging than you might think.
But people are forgiving, and that helps, and can give advice without being condescending.
It’s a fun place to go, and the restaurant is great.
9-hole "old school" gem
Old style golf course with no fairways and quirky hole layouts delights the experienced golfer as well as the beginner. Could be walked, but carts recommended. Blind shots on many holes, so scope things out before taking shots. Clubhouse has great views and is nice to have a bite (in season). Look for incredible rates ($10 with cart).
Great small country course
Great small country course where I learned to play golf. Enjoy the year round winter rules as it makes course enjoyable for a beginner while developing skills. It always has a unique challenge on each hole which helps when playing with varied players. It is very affordable while providing a challenging day on the course, even though 9 holes.
Best thing is greens are well cared for, staff is friendly and and after game beer is very reasonable.
Perfect for Shelter Island
If you are looking for a typical high end country club experience, this course ain't for you. It's on Shelter Island, which doesn't have the water capacity to keep everything green. I play every year when I visit the island. Highlight of my trip. It's hilly, so take a cart. The fees are a steal. So if you're looking for a Mar-a-Lago, then go there. We won't miss you. The staff is super friendly. The whole operation has a kind of mom and pop, 1920s feel, which for me is a plus. Harkens back to simpler times. I'm thankful it's there, and may it remain so for future generations.
Hilly terrain, classic feel
1901 golf course has very hilly terrain and numerous blind shots. Unusual feature: you will not find a fairway on this course, only cut grass, old style. Not many bunkers to speak of. Greens were in perfect shape and playable. It's best to (1) take a cart, (2) scope out the hole before you play it, (3) beware that the ball will jump downhill on most greens, so lay-up. Clubhouse restaurant is a gem with spectacular views on sunny days. Course is rough around the edges, but worth playing and unique.
