Bear Trap Dunes: An Ocean View gem
Excellent course, friendly staff and great greens. No GPS slows pace of play.
great course, great staff
We were scheduled to play all 27 holes, but the weather was very unforgiving. Rain, sleet, wind, snow and sunshine all in the same day. The course is in excellent condition, from tees to greens to bunkers. Even though the course never closed due to weather, the pro shop staff gave our group of 7 rain checks for the 9 holes that we couldnt play. That was very accomodating and gracious of them. We will definitely play here every time we are in the Ocean City, MD area.
Good layout. Great greens.
The greens at Bear Trap were as good as any I've played. Very fast and true but not too firm to hold iron shots. It's early in the year but I will play it again soon.
Well done!
Great course conditions for March. Nice to play on near summer conditions this time of year. Hats off to management and grounds keeping staff.Fees are too pricey for me in season but a great deal at this time.
Great Winter Day
As usual staff at Bear Trap Dunes was very friendly. It had rained 2 to 3 inches the day before and the course was a little soggy, but that's to expected. Overall great day of February golf. Looking forward to our next round.
Golf in December
Course in pretty good shape even with considerable rain in previous week. Greens in really good shape. Had course to myself playing as a single.
Course very scenic and tough
The course was very nicely laid out and very challenging. The greens were extremely fast with tough pin placement.
Where are the Marshalls.
Nice place to play, but I don't think they have mastered running three nines. After nine holes and getting things spaced out, they allowed member foursome to jump in front two groups ahead. Needless to say, the back nine (Black Bear) was torture.
Also the starter disappeared for 20 minutes and when I asked bag guys was told he was cleaning up driving range.
Won't recommend, and probably won't go back.
Great layout
We went out as a twosome and paired up with a full member Art. He was very kind and helpful and gave us lots of tips !!
Beared
The course was very playable, not tricked up, greens were recently punched , yet ran smooth and true. The pace was slow for the first nine, the staff redirected to Grizz, which was wide open. Very good experience. The staff in the lounge were not attentive, friendly, or helpful.
Very Good Resort Course
This is a fun to play resort course in consistently good condition. You can easily increase the degree of difficulty by moving your choice of tees. But, don't you wish courses let you know that they had just aerated? Yesterday we were putting in sand traps, not greens.
Very nice facility
My first time playing Bear Trap Dunes, and I was pleasantly impressed. The course is in very nice condition, the greens are true and relatively fast, and the pace of play was excellent (under 4 hours for a threesome.) My only negative comment is that the first three holes on the "Kodiak" nine are relatively boring, but then the remaining 6 holes are very good. We enjoyed it and we'll be back to play it again.
Great vourse
Enjoyed the course! I will be back soon @ can't wait
Great course
The course was in great condition played grizzly and black bear
Interesting and challenging design.
Extremely well kept course. Staff is very friendly. Great value for the quality of the course.
A fairly straight forward layout that provides a fair test of ability.
You can see the layout of each hole from the tee pretty easily, thus letting you plan your strategy for the tee shot. You can play driver or a long iron off of most tees, it just depends on how far of an approach shot you feel comfortable with having as your next shot. Being a good wind player is crucial since the coastal winds altered club selection by up to 3 clubs for some shots. It's critical to play the correct tees on this course, or you will end up in some waste areas off the tees, as was demonstrated by a few of the groups in front of me. The greens were great shape and very receptive to long approach shots. I was actually surprised to not see many unrepaired ball marks on the greens. The greens were running at a nice pace and were nice to putt.
The staff is really friendly and are there to make sure you enjoy your visit. I really did enjoy this course and would play it again if I am given the opportunity again.
loved course
We froze the front nine, a little better on back nine, windy and unseasonably cold
Great day
Played in less than 4 hrs. Could not see another group for the entire round. Great condition. Fast greens.. Great time
Fun golf course
I am a high handicap golfer. The course is really fair and fun to play and is in fantastic shape considering all of the rain in the area. The greens have enough speed to make them fun! I have played this course throughout the year and have enjoyed every time I have played. The staff is incredibly polite and the pace of play even during the busy season is perfect.
WORTH THE TRIP
EXCELLENT COURSE. PLAYED IN THE WINTER AND HAD 18 MPH WINDS SO CONDITIONS WEREN'T THE BEST. THEY ALSO HAD 2" RAIN THE DAY BEFORE.
IT STILL WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE AND IT WOULD BE GOOD TO PLAY IT WHEN THE WEATHER IS BETTER.
STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND MADE YOU FEEL WELCOMED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE GREENS FEES ARE IN THE SUMMER BUT THE COURSE IS ONE OF THE NICEST IN OCEAN CITY/DELAWARE AREA.
