On top of the world! Photo submitted by davidc11 on 04/02/2015
A wonderful experience!
This was the first time I played this course and I am quite happy with the experience! The staff was friendly and helpful and the course, while challenging, was fun to play! I will definitely come back to play!
Trouble booking
I noticed there have been recent comments , did they book on golf now or tee off? Every time I try to book I always get the same message , an error has occurred or the tee time no longer exists. I’ve called customer service but didn’t get an answer. If you can’t book then why are tee times listed every day. Thanks
Must play
Awesome course! Great condition with a lot of cool history as you go each hole.
The best
Unbelievable place. Beautiful, peaceful and a blast to play. Hole #5 is legendary. Holes 15 through 18 are out of this world. A little bit of Augusta with a touch of links. Amazing.
The course had been punched and sanded and was not in great shape
Best of the best
Farmlinks is a 5-star experience all the way around. I’ve played many courses and this is the best of the best. Incredible setting, perfect course layout, and immaculate greens make this a must play.
Low this layout
I have played in the fall. This time played in summer. The course was in great shape. It was hot but I was expecting it. They had bottle water at multiple location around the track. At turn chilled apples, water , ice available for cooler. This was my favor place to play little drive from Birmingham. Maybe I would consider staying play option in future. This is a 10.
Amazing!
No other place like this! Def the course of a lifetime!
Wow!
I’ve always wanted to play this course after seeing YouTube videos. It did NOT disappoint! The fairways and greens were in great condition. Water bottles and ice were provided throughout the course. They even had chilled apples at the turn. Highly recommend!
The YouTube hype is overstated
Middle of nowhere courses usually go one of two ways, a great value or entirely overpriced. I played this course at the tail end of 19 other top public access courses in Alabama, and while it was quite nice, all things considered, it's not a 150+ green fee course in the least. Not when the RTJ Trail courses are basically all well under 100 with the Trail Card and a good number of them are much more interesting tracks than this one.
This place is no Streamsong or Pinehurst unique, and even those places are beyond wildly overpriced. Welcome to America, the land of predatory pricing and commoner fleecing since 1913.
The Judge at Capitol Hill blows this place out of the water, as does Cambrian Ridge, both courses at Grand National, Ross Bridge, Highland Oaks, and my favorite course in the whole state for elevation changes - Gunter's Landing.
Best in state public course - heck no. Not for free and certainly not for what they're charging. Hot deals for 120, ya, no sorry Shlomo.
If they didn't make it a whole resort experience with a higher end hotel for the well heeled and a bunch of non golf related activities, and comp'd some YouTubers to promote the course, this place would be on life support.
With all this said, it's a nice course in great condition overall, but fairly easy from tee to green for a scratch player, even from the tips. Resort courses = wide fairways so people have FUN.... Yaayyyy FUN.
I played alone, and am a +2, so if I don't score well, fun is hard to come by. Come play with your buddies and you'll have a great time. It's worth the drive if you can afford the overly steep green fees. Otherwise, for something truly unique go to Gunter's Landing. Even Ballantrae is more interesting a track and definitely a better value.
No Hot Deals
This is by far my favorite course to play while on golf trips to Alabama, but every time I try to book on Golf Now or Tee Off it always comes back as an error has occurred or tee time no longer available. If Pursell doesn’t want to offer these specials then they should be removed from the apps.
