Nearly unplayable greens….
Half of the greens are grounds under repair, not what you expect for a resort course in the most expensive zip code in phoenix…tee boxes can be rough. Cart girls and staff are amazing, though. Fun layout.
Fun par 3's
Greens were slow and the course had some brown spots but was overall nice. The new bar & grill is pretty sweet.
LINKS BILTMORE
Excellent day to play at the Biltmore. No one in front and 1.5 hrs till next group plays after us. Loved the course all to ourselves. Had a newbie with us and was a perfect day to have him learn etiquette, rules, etc. just an Awesome Day on the links.
Not A Good Vlue For the Money
Although the scenery is great the course was in poor condition with 4 of the greens with large sections of just burnt brown grass and many of the fairways with weeds where grass should be. I know it is summer but a little water would be a good idea. Biltmore Links is my favorite local course but I can't recommend it based on the conditions and the overpricing right now.
Great Course, Great Amenities....Course condition was So So
I always enjoy my rounds at the Links Course and the Estate Course. I just found it troubling that there were many patches of dirt where there should have been grass.....around the greens/fringe area and on the greens as well. Not a good look Biltmore!
Terrible Shape + No Range or Putting Green
I understand it's summer in Phoenix, but this was bad by any standards. So many courses do better in the same conditions I just don't understand the excuse. The greens were extremely slow with all sorts of dirt areas cutting through, the fairways had to be lift clean and place to avoid hitting out of mud holes and the bunkers were just hard pan. I kept thinking it would get better, and the back nine improved a little with the fairways being less patchy, but everything else stayed the same.
Even with perfect conditions, the layout isn't anything special outside of 2 or 3 holes that offer something outside of just the most basic visuals and design.
I was disappointed and wish I'd have spent my day somewhere else
Great Course But Poor Conditions
Links is my favorite local course. However the fairway conditions are poor on 5 of the 18 holes. Spotty fairway grass and greens were very dry. Course needs water and better care. At $49 it is over-priced for the current conditions. Layout is great and hole #15 is the best in the Valley!
Awful Layout
Whoever they paid to redesign this course should be sued for malpractice. How they thought this was an improvement over the previous layout is beyond me. There are areas where there are two or three tee boxes on top of each other with a green or two tucked in there for good measure. One member that I played the Links course with a couple of weeks ago told me that they should issue helmets on this course due to the layout. He wasn't kidding. Won't play it again, I'll stick with the Links. Love the Adobe restaurant.
Strategic Redesign
The new Estates course is a massive upgrade from the old Adobe course. They have transformed a relatively flat, uninteresting, and compact plot of land into 18 strategic holes.
The course was playing firm and fast, and the majority of the course is now fairway-height short grass, which leads to some fun options off the tee and around the greens. There are many well placed fairway bunkers that make a golfer think about where to place the next shot. The new green complexes are far more dynamic and have interesting runoffs. The greenside short grass gives a golfer a variety of shots (pitch, bump & run, putt, etc) from which to choose. The greens were in very good shape for the summer months and rolled truly.
4 is a great, short par 4 that gives the golfer some options off the tee, which includes laying up short of the right fairway bunker at 220 yards or pushing it past the bunker, which brings on some additional challenges as the fairway narrows.12 is a fun par 3 that could play between 120 and 170 yards, depending on where the pin is placed on the extremely deep and narrow green. 15 is a particularly strong par 5. The series of cross bunkers starting around 100 yards short of the green impact the decision around laying up or going for the green on the second shot.
My only critique is that the routing is a little confusing in spots, but that is a function of the somewhat limited space. Additionally, the new facilities (pro shop and restaurant) are beautiful and modern, and the staff members are incredibly helpful and friendly. All in all, I would highly recommend the course, particularly if you like to play interesting and strategic golf courses.
LOVE THIS COURSE!
The new layout is great! Love the new clubhouse too!
Pleasurable
Quick pace of play .. although at 107 degrees we were the only ones out there .. that being said, course in good condition
Great Course In The Middle Of Phoenix For A Fair Price
Biltmore Links is our favorite local course. Play among the mansions with million dollar views of the city. The first 9 holes are rather level with water on 3 of the holes and dog legs on 4 other holes. The second nine winds up through the ravines to the elevated tee box of Hole #15 that is 172 feet above the fairway with 360 degree views of the Valley. If you have out-of-town friends this is the course to bring them to!
Rough Shape But Still Fun
I know the course is getting ready for aeration but this is the worst I've seen this course in almost 30 years of playing it. It does look like the Adobe (oops Estate's course now) is in good shape so I am looking forward to the Links being finished. For now there are just a lot of non-grass areas in the fairways. But they have priced it accordingly to make it worth the play. I still love this course and the layout remains great as does the staff.
