Best course of the vacation
Friendly staff. Great price on golf now. First group out in the morning and played in 3h because we were told to go slow to give maintenance crew time. Lovely course, great layout. My favorite course we played this week (Starfire, legend trail, Boulder, talking Stick) Definitely play this course
Troon North doesn’t miss
Played Troon pinnacle on 5/23/19 at 330pm for 60 bucks. I’ve paid over 200 in prime time season. Course as always doesn’t miss, I’ve played monument the last few times and wanted to play pinnacle. I think Monument edged Pinnacle but only slightly. If you’ve never played there flip a coin because I think they’re that close in top caliber. An above poster stated the new greens were unplayable. I disagree, they were firm but just fine. Course gets crazy amount of play and the conditions are consistently fantastic. Staff is always friendly and accommodating.
Only complaint is the range balls just are old and beat. Yea Troon North gets tons and tons of rounds but I’m sure they can spend the dough to buy new range balls. If that’s the only issue then I’m a happy camper.
Well done Troon North.
Unforgettable experience
Desert golf at its finest. Great scenery, great layout and the staff kept things moving for me as a first timer. They were all friendly and great communicators of where to go and what to expect. Pace of play was about 10 minutes off their touted 4:24 time so that’s literally the only ding I could possibly think of.
SENSATIONAL LAYOUT and VIEWS
My partner and I play a lot of golf around the world and I think this is the most spectacular course I have ever played.
The design is sensational amongst the hills and you are provided with unbelievable views across all of the Phoenix area. A couple of driveable (for the big hitters) par 4s set off this spectacular course.
Tee Time Problem
We arrived at Troon North Course to learn that our 12:25pm Tee time did not show up on their tee sheet. I showed them my confirmation. They got us on but had to cram us in between two foursomes.
Course was great but not pleased with the disconnect between Golf Now and Troon North course.
Perfect Day!
The course is amazing. Staff, facilities, and even the golf carts are all top shelf. Would recommend this course to anyone coming to Scottsdale!
Great Course Overall
This was my favorite course in the area. The layout is fantastic and it looks extremely nice. There were a few issues that I wouldn't have expected for the price we paid. First, it was incredibly slow. A Marshall came out and told us that "we were playing too quickly". There were 3 groups on a tee box at a time, so it wasn't us. Also, we were never told that they had sanded the greens. So those two things took away from the experience, but overall the course is fantastic. I really enjoyed the scenery and it is a challenging course to play.
Mixed Review
I'm torn on this experience...the good was the course layout, the people I got paired up with and the scenery.
The bad fuzzy fairways and range grass. The range balls were old, beat up and faded. The huge bunker to the left of the 9th green had only 2 rakes and yes I did rake mine and someone else who was too lazy to walk halfway around the trap. No bottled water in the coolers on the carts. Tons of annoying adds on the old cart gps and it took awhile for it to recognize the hole we were on (a few of the pins were off). For this price the holes should be painted white. Huge bump on a temporary golf path going from 9 to 10. Last but most importantly when I checked in they were going to charge me more than my reservation. They said it was dynamic pricing and I said can it move after you make a tee time?!!! How many other unsuspecting patrons are they taking advantage of? Luckily I keep track of expenses as they don't include the amount on the confirmation email. Shady!!! You can do better for what you charge, but since the course is iconic I doubt anything will change.
Magnificent Golf Course
Probably the nicest course I have ever played. Beautiful layout, fair but challenging holes, in magnificent shape, and a great staff ( especially Amanda the cart girl!)
Well with the cost. A must play if you are in Scottsdale.
New greens. Soft fairways
Nothing will ever hold in these conditions. Give it a year or two.
A MUST play!!!
Every year we come down to golf in the Phoenix area for 3-4 weeks in April, this course is ALWAYS the #1 favourite. Played Monument today, it’s in absolutely fantastic condition, lush green fairways and second cut, very fast, true but receptive greens. Couldn’t ask for anything better, and of the 2 Troon Norths this is a challenging but fair track. Thanks again Troon North, very consistently in amazing condition!
Monument
The Monument Course as everyone knows is a beautiful course. Great layout, great sightlines, and beautiful mountain desert golf. My only complaints were the grass looked like it hadn't been mowed in a while- especially around the greens and curtins. It also is just disappointing the homes are so close. Don't build anymore near the course- paying $200 a hearing children crying, kids yelling, and dogs barking on several holes takes away from the experience.
Monument Course
Everything is super but the driving Range was closed. This was bad.
Nothing else compares
Played Pinnacle peak today and WOW!!! There is nothing that compares, beautiful course, beautiful over looks, course was in perfect condition. Can't ask for anything more than that.
Extremely challenging, but the views and conditions make up for it.
First time to Phoenix and played some great courses while there. Pinnacle edged out Quintero, for conditions and views, but just slightly. Bring lots of balls if you don't have your A game, the desert is not forgiving. Course conditions were amazing, but greens were like concrete and extremely fast. Don't be above the holes. Staff and amenities top notch. Will definitely be back to play the Monument Course.
Beautiful but tough course
I’m not a great golfer (20 handicap) but I love the game, and this course was really tough for me and the other three that joined us. From the first hole I noticed the placement of transition and traps made reaching the green in regulation and thus scoring difficult. The caddie was very friendly but virtually useless, as he didn’t read one break properly and rarely offered helpful suggestions. His only purpose was to rake the traps collect our clubs and double check the reads on the gps cart. Not worth the money, and at over $750 for two it was a disappointment. It was a very cold day and the cart girls had no hot coffee or warm drinks. But overall it’s still worthwhile if you’re a better golfer than me or just want to enjoy the beautiful desert scenery.
It started out bad when the kid at the bag drop got our clubs all mixed up. The course made up for it but the price ! There is better value out there.
Troon Pinnacle
Payed course many times before. This time (first of 2019) found course to be in poor shape. Practice area was very bad, practice chipping area worse. Greens very soft and marked up badly. Mowing was happening today, lots of extra grass and debris. Runoff from recent rains not dealt with. For one of highest cost golf courses in Scottsdale, poor presentation. Always one of my favorite golf courses, in poor shape today.
