Great track
It is the best, or close to the best course I have played in AZ. Very expensive, but probably worth it to play at least once. Very prestigious course. Incredible club house and locker room. Nice practice facility. Course is beautifully designed. It is target golf - keep the ball straight!
Too expensive
The course is totally surrounded by properties which are hiding the views of the desert. The course is OK although the greens were not that great, they looked like patchworks and had different speeds from one to another. All in all too expensive for a good course, nothing else.
Beautiful course, slow play
They let a group tournament go out and did not monitor. Got to be a 15 minute wait at tee for the last 4 holes on front 9 so went and played the front 9 on Monument instead.
Everything You'll Ever Want...and More!
Nothing about Troon North disappoints. From the minute you hit the parking lot and drop your clubs to the minute you pay for your 19th hole drinks or spend money in the pro shop, you're expectations are exceeded. The golf in the middle of all of that is simply spectacular. We played the Pinnacle course as it had come out of overseeding a couple of weeks prior to Monument and the course was already in great shape, but will only continue to get better. A couple of the greens looked like they had seen some traffic, but overall they were running 10+ and rolled true. The entire staff was as friendly as could be and it was obvious they all truly enjoyed being there as well. I always enjoy my rounds here and cannot wait to get back for more this winter.
Difficult course
Good shape. Difficult course. No combo tees. No ball cleaner on tee boxes.
Troon Morth Monument Course
It was a beautiful course. Fairways and greens were perfect.
One of the best golf courses in Phoenix area
I have 2 issues with that day we played: they put us 15 min after shot gun and no one told me when I scheduled; and players not fixing they ball marks despite of course providing free tools! Players, have some respect- do not be just a tourists!
We had over 5 hours round of golf! Great course, great views, great weather, great and friendly stuff.
Fantastic Course
This is an exceptional course. Everything about this experience was first rate. The course design and layout are second to none; the use of the desert has never been better. Magnificent rock features were used on several holes while the foothill terrain was beautifully used on others. Every hole had its own unique personality such that it has you looking forward to the surprise you will find at the next hole and the next. The fairways were immaculate and the greens were nearly perfect. But for other golfers not repairing ball marks as they should, there would be nothing to fault about the greens. The greens were fast, but consistently so. The pace was predictable and manageable. I am looking forward to returning to this course some day soon.
Awesome Setting
Troon North is in an awesome, high desert, natural setting. Although enjoyable, I found the the course a bit much on a breezy day for my high handicap game, with the front 9 friendlier than the back 9. Physically the course was in superb condition, although "cart path only" restrictions due to overseeding made for much back-and-forth walking. My only criticism is there were too many unrepaired, or poorly repaired ball marks on the greens for such a high value venue.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, and pace of play was comfortable.
great time at troon!
Would of given 5 stars across the board except it was still cp only, not that it took away from the golfing experience. Greens are the best I've putted on in Az without a doubt. Carts have GPS which is nice. Beverage cart girl Josie was awesome and makes a mean bloody Mary! Top professional staff from the bag drop to the pick up ! Looking forward to playing the Pinnacle course next time.
A MUST play
Troon North is a great course and with the price we paid on Golfnow.
Great golf course!!
This was my first time playing here. It was a bit of a drive from the hotel but the TCP course was closed down for seeding. Glad I tried this course, beautiful views and the course was in great shape. I am a 10 handicap so I knew this was going to be a hard course. Didn't us driver much, to stay out of trouble and had a great time. Hard course but fair layout. It seemed like you had 20 yards around the greens to work with if you missed. I'll definitely play again.
OMG!!
I have played the Monument course before This was my first time at the Pinnacle The course was in truly amazing condition. Everything was perfect the pace of paly was fair why would anyone want to rush on this course teed off at 2 pm and came of at 6.25pm . The scenery the verdant green of the course made for a magical day. I played form the silver tees Slope 130 I am a 9/10 hcp. I did not have a iffy lie all day! This is a challenging course I played four other courses in the past week. This was the toughest! a slope of 130 was at the top of my capability. Use this as your guide rather than the colour of the tees as your tee markers . Played as well as I could and came in with a 77. par71/72.
Lots of wildlife including a family of Haveline on 15 /16. really good meal of North Scottsdale fish fry was superb. Thanks I will be back!!!The course director came out and chatted to us on the back nine. This was nice touch .
Troon
Other than cart path only , the course and the day were fantastic , I would highly recommend this course to any one , what a treat to play , thank you!!
Fantastic views from every tee
What a great layout and a true test of golf, bad timing on my side as the course had just been overseeded so it was cart path only, but that didn't stop the enjoyment, must re-visit
Spectacular Course
The Pinnacle course is fantastic. I would have been happier with Golf Now had they told me that the driving range was closed and the course was playing cart path only. But we had a great time - because there was no one in front of us, we played in just under four hours. The course is not for beginners - and we played copper tees - but it is playable and beautiful and a real pleasure to play.
Impeccable
5 Star All The Way, and especially great experience due to the Golf Now rate.
Full Disclosure
The greeting was fine and courteous. Checking in revealed what GolfNow FAILED to disclose which was the dreaded "cart path only". Local at the desk said one had to expect that this time of year. Being an outsider my response was one should expect FULL DISCLOSURE which GolfNow and its intercourse with Troon North failed to accomplish. [Wife has broken toe - would have been nice to know.] Credit to staffer who said after 9 he would see what he could do if there was a problem. Course too fantastic to bail after 9. But still.... Thought I was told a starter would get us to begin, but none showed so we ushered ourselves to the 1st tee and went on our way. Hate to think any misogyny going on since we were a heterosexual couple, cursed on top of it by being over 60. But we know our way around a course so made the best of it. It just left me with a sense of dismissiveness from the millennials working the area. I can't say enough nice things about the considerate and helpful cart lady and who can complain when she has a margarita machine - except when it was empty for the first run through but ready to go after that. Nice touch. More courses should consider getting the machine.
Great layout, slow play, and poor conditions
Overall the layout has a ton of potential. The fairways were undergoing some major repairs with several location where new sod had been laid and several dead areas. The greens were the big disappointment though, bent grass is great but they were so soft that even footprints were leaving an impression let alone all of the ball marks that were left unrepaired. The views on the back nine were very impressive and the layout was very intriguing. In better shape it would be top notch, they need to do a better job keeping play going and sending a snack cart around more often.
great views
I played it on an off day where I was losing balls right. This is not a course where you can afford to do that. Very tight fairways, to me it resembled target golf and frankly the course was beyond my abilities that day.
With that said, the course is immaculately maintained, the views stunning, it is definitely a very cool place to play as a tourist.
If you can keep your drives in the fairway you have a decent chance to score well, if you happen to be a high handicapper who has direction issues you may find the course somewhat frustrating. Still worth the play, just remember to pick the appropriate tees.
