A must play - Monument!
1st time playing & Monument is an excellent course with spectacular views especially on the back 9! Greens running about 11 and course is in great summer condition all around. They had Pinnacle closed for maintenance & Monument is next soon. This course is in my top 3 all time at 46 yrs old! I'm an avid golfer playing 2+ times a week and a 5 handicap. Shot 73 from a combo black/gold tees (12 black & 6 gold)! Living in San Diego playing Torrey, Aviara, La Costa, Steele Canyon plus many more...this is a must play in Phoenix! I'm an ex-caddy from Pelican Hill & have seen beautiful courses! My point is...Play Monument! ;-)
Loved Pinnacle, Monument course is the ugly sister..
Played both courses back to back days this Summer. Pinnacle is a super challenging course with great views, Very few houses, the ones that you can see are 2+ million and easy on the eyes. Bring lots of balls if you dont hit'em straight.
Bar staff is super friendly. The bar grille is a gem, they have a happy hour from 3-6 every day of the week, $3 mixed drinks and beers! My new spot when I'm in town.
Troon North Pinnacle
Excellent course with classic views. Course was in great shape and well maintained. Pace of play was excellent, practice facilities were first class. Only negative was not running into a beverage cart on a 105 degree day. I would strongly recommend this course as a must play in Phoenix. Great off season rates this time of year.
beautiful course
Very beautiful course very challenging and fast greens
Monument
Great views but pace of play very slow. Otherwise nice track
This Monument is but a tiny statue!
Played Monument course and it really needs some work! Very disappointed in quality of fairways and tee boxes. Fairways bare or torn up and the mower used to cut tee boxes is uneven and scalping every box. Simple to see but no one appears to fix the issue.
Will not play again or recommend course until much needed work is completed.
Monument course
The condition of the fairways on the front nine was rather poor with many dead patches. The greens were good. Having played this course several times at this time of year it was in the poorest condition that we have experienced for many years. However, there was evidence of repair work being undertaken.
Super Course
What a treat! Had friends in town for a week that wanted to play a "Super Course". Took them to Troon North Monument & they had a GREAT time ! Friendly staff inside & out. Some new sod being put in around some greens, but otherwise in it's usual great shape! Used Golfnow to get a low rate & can"t wait to take them to play Troon North Pinnacle!
Great Course
This is one of the greatest courses in Arizona. It is a MUST Play!!!!!!
$$
Pinnacle was in great shape. Would definitely play it again even if the price doesn't come down.
Troon
Even after a huge storm came in two days before I played, the course was back in great shape!! Played the black tees and it played long. Greens were fast and views were amazing
Best in AZ
Course was amazing. Great condition and some of the best designed holes I have ever played.
Awesome desert course
Easily one of the best golf courses in Arizona. In the middle of the summer, it was still in tip top shape. Greens were soft and rolled true, fairways were trimmed perfectly and maintained very well. The course is too expensive to play in the winter time, so when a deal popped up for the summer it was too good to pass up. Played on a summer day just over 100 degrees with cloud cover so it was excellent weather. Standing on the tee box, several of the tee shots are visually intimidating. You really have to pick your line and trust you have the right club. Definitely not a beginners course. Really is a phenomenal course.
Exceptional value in summer
Played in early July for less than $100. The course is gorgeous and was in fantastic shape. The staff was excellent.
The greens were perfectly maintained and ran true.
The bunkers were soft and groomed despite the sun on the course in AZ summer.
I can't justify the cost that Phoenix area courses charge in high season but at the low season rates it is tremendous.
Nice Time
This was the Monument Course. I played this in the heat of the summer because this course is WAY TO EXPENSIVE to play in the fall, winter, and spring. In my opinion it DOES NOT JUSTIFY the huge expense.
Great Conditions
Course was in excellent conditions, greens held your shots.... highly recommend playing this course....
Great Course
The course was in excellent condition, with the greens holding and true. It was very warm out, but had an ice cooler attached to the cart so that was nice.
Need to bring a gps or rangefinder as there is none on the cart. Did include a hole by hole guide, but not so helpful after the tee shot. I know that this slowed play down.
Staff was pretty indifferent at the starters table. They had an outing on the Pinnacle Course, and all the attention went there. Did not call me from the practice facility so another single went out ahead of me.
They let out three singles in a row, which slowed play down, Should have combined us for the round.
cool summer valley course
Nice to play in the summer because it located in North Scottsdale which is higher in elevation. The elevation drops the temperature almost 10 degree and provided a nice breeze
pinnacle course
a very challenging course...no real bailout areas...either in the fairway or in the scrub....greens were rolling true and in great shape...putting saved my score from being a disaster....
Long and Accurate Floats the Boat
It was my first round at one of the Troon links and I was not disappointed. The summer rate made it affordable for me and the unseasonably cool weather made it a pleasure.
The course was in great shape. The facilities are beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. It was a slow day, so I got to choose my course and go right out for a solo round which let me set my own pace of play.
From the Gold tees, I needed all my length off the tee on most par fours. It resulted in plenty of long irons into the greens. A game from the Tips would be a real monster unless you drive minimum 280.
The greens were in great shape, although I found them pretty easy to put as there is little undulation or significant breaks. If you're within 5 feet of the cup, it's left edge or right edge or straight on in. A little more break would have been welcome.
Overall, this is a top notch course and worth playing at least once. The course is a scenic ride through some magnificent houses and there's plenty of local wildlife to see, too.
I'd definitely go back.
