About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. Greens Aerated Sanded
Fairways and grass around greens in great shape. Greens just aerated and sanded, never saw snack cart entire after turn. Dropping clubs off up top no the most convenient thing to do and carry them down stairs.
Perfect weather for golf
A challenging but scenic golf course. It’s surely one of my favorites.
Thanks for the 5-star review!
Great experience
The Mountain course is in excellent shape. The greens were a little bit bumpy due to aeration, but still very fast. Women’s tee boxes are excellent compared to most courses.Immaculate!
Thanks for the 5-star review, Jogi! Come see us again soon.
Beautiful setting , fun course layout.
Nice experience to play this course but very awkward check in, plan extra time as it takes an extra 20-30 minutes compared to most courses. Took so long finding where to check in then to cart down to 1st tee, had no time for practice or warm up. Greens had just been aerated and top dressed, no mention of that on tee time site. One last picky thing - a course with high end green fees should have golf towels on every cart, not many ball washers on course.. However, in balance an enjoyable well conditioned course.

Glorious Day at Ventana!
Brilliant weather and a great day in a perfect course!
Thanks for the 5-star review, Michael!
Great course
The greens were aerated, every thing else was fantastic
Hi Canham, thanks for the 5-star review! Our greens heal fast, so be sure to book another round with us soon to see the results firsthand.
Put a lot of miles on the cart
If you don't mind the fact that you drive from one zip code to another to play some (too many) holes, the golf course is great, good shape, fast greens, very playable. If however you become frustrated the third or fourth time you are 'lost', you may have a better time elsewhere. Don't think I've ever play a course that the layout was so discombobulated.
Don't feel bad, we get a bit lost ourselves sometimes. Thanks for the 5-star review! We hope you'll come see us again soon.
Hi Rick, thanks for the 5-star review! Come see us again soon.
Hi MM, thanks for the 5-star review! We hope to see you back at Ventana Canyon soon.
No complaints about the course; conditions were good (a few burned edges on the greens), but overall great track. Just a note that if you're a guest not member there is a different check-in location that we didn't know about and apparently neither did the guard shack attendant.
Thanks for the 4-star review, we're glad to hear you enjoyed your time at Ventana Canyon!
Havs a blast
this course was one of the most beautiful courses I have played & in excellent condition. Unfortunately my play was not very pretty. This is probably the best time to play, a little out of season with lower rates, but still not too hot. The mountain breeze was refreshing.
This is definitely not a walking friendly course
We're glad you enjoyed your time at Ventana Canyon, Cliff. Book another round with us soon!
Lovely variety of holes
I really enjoyed the layout of this course. The trees blended in with the desert and the fairways. The main challenge was how fast the greens were and the reading of them. I would really like to play here again as I was just about getting the pace late on in the round
We're glad to hear you enjoyed your time at Ventana Canyon, Scroggy! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Awesome views
Loved playing here but pace of play was terrible. We had to wait on every shot. No rangers around to speed up play. staff was not friendly at all!!
We're sorry to hear pace of play wasn't quite up to snuff, JT. We're working hard to ensure a pleasurable experience for all our guests, and we hope you'll give us another chance soon!
Excellent value
Super quick greens and outstanding views. Some good holes a lot of just OK holes
First tee starter was full of it. He asked one member of our foursome what his index was? Some folks may have no idea what a GHIN index is. Told our group that the course played longer than the card. At 3000 feet elevation course played considerably shorter than the scorecard everyone was blowing it over the green the first nine holes. Was an attempt to get everyone to move forward on the tees. Finally he said bring your golf club if you hit it in the desert (to kill snakes). In other words don’t waste your time looking for balls in the desert so that it doesn’t slow the pace of play.
Thanks for the 4-star review, we appreciate you taking time to rate us on Golf Advisor. We hope to see you again soon!
Fantastic greens
This is one of my favorite courses. Great variety of holes, the conditions were fantastic. Greens were firm and fast. We never really adapted to the firm fast greens, but the ball rolled where we hit it. If you can get a hot deal make it at point to play the mountain course. Canyon course is good but I think less exceptional.
Play the back tees on number 4 (the most unique tee box I have ever played) and number 18 if you can stand the hike up to the black tee. Also recommend the blacks on number 3 but it’s so interesting it doesn’t really matter. Enjoy.
We appreciate you taking time to leave us a review, Corey. Thanks for the five stars! Be sure to book another round with us soon.
A Nice But Windy Day
My brother and I played the Mountain Course and it was a cool and windy day. In spite of that we thoroughly enjoyed the round and did better than expected. Even though it is desert style, the fairways are mostly generous and we lost fewer balls than we had expected. The facility is excellent and the course was in very nice condition. The downside was that the greens were slick as ice and even a perfect shot to the front of the green often resulted in the ball rolling off the back.
The Mountain Course certainly isn't easy, especially on windy days! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us, be sure to book another round at Ventana Canyon soon.
Great Day of Golf
I enjoyed everything about the experience, except there was no one to help with the clubs at the end of the round. It’s a long walk up stairs to the cars and it’s even longer carrying a set of clubs. The course is fair with enough sets of tee boxes to take care of all levels of players. The greens were excellent as were all the aspects of the course.
The price compared other Tucson courses is higher.
Thanks for the 4-star review, Warren. We appreciate you taking time to review us on Golf Advisor. Be sure to book another round with us soon!
Great day of golf
This place was very beautiful as it is tucked up against the mountains. The clubhouse was somewhat hard it’s to the right of the resort next to the tennis courts. I played with a father daughter and another single a military veteran still enlisted in the army. We had a great time the pace of play was great and the views are spectacular. I have played a lot of Tucson courses and this would be a must play when I return to the area.
We're glad to hear it, Jeffe. Thanks for the 5-star review, we appreciate you taking time to rate us on Golf Advisor. We look forward to seeing you when you return!
