Friendly layout in great shape
First time playing at Talking Stick. Nice course in great shape with consistent greens.
Overview
Course was in good shape. Course isn’t super exciting (no water holes) but faiways in great shape. Cart path only when I played. Just made sure to grab a few clubs on occasion. Bunkers a little hard. Played as a single hot deal for just $45 so obviously happy with that. Luckily paired up with two really nice guys who were good players. Shout out Alex and Will! Round was a touch over 4 hours. Pretty tough to lose a ball there, also starter makes it clear you should finish front in 2 hours which i liked. On the back he told me he informed group in front to pick up the pace. They were slow on greens. Staff was really nice. Once renovations are done will be a much better experience when you finish round. Right now there is no hot food.
Flat, easy, boring course
Very wide fairways. Flat. No water hazards. No doglegs. Can hit driver on every hole. Big greens. Par 70 so you only get one Par 5 on each side. An uninspiring layout but easy to go low.
Conditions were good post-over seeding. Greens were firm but weren't too fast, still cart path only in late November. Bunkers needed more sand.
Pace of play on a full course was just over 4 hours.
Fair
Construction on site so no clubhouse. No GPS on carts which at this price point is ridiculous. Course was in excellent condition as was pace of play.
Good track
Super wide fairways and little in the way of hazards other than bunkers make this an enjoyable experience and less stressful than some of the target courses. Greens and fairways in good shape. GPS on carts could speed up play even when it is cart path only. Some construction going on that challenges parking but little else. Not sure what the signature hole would be, not much in elevation changes . Overall fun golf course.
Wide Fairways
If you want to regain confidence off of the TeeBox, this is the place to do it. Widest fairways I have ever seen! Well managed and a fun track.
Green is the color
The course was in immaculate shape as we learned the course had been over seeded a couple weeks prior. The greens were a bit on the slower side but they rolled true throughout the course. Prior to playing I read a lot of reviews complaining of slow play and despite the course being very busy we got around in four hours and 10 minutes. I’ll be back to play here the next time I’m in Scottsdale. An A+ day
Unexpected
This is a friendly course with wide fairways and forgiving rough. Entrance and parking lots are still under Cindy but no real issues
Overall 7out of 10.
Over priced for the value
Club house under renovation and closed. Cart path only.
If the course notified golfers ahead of time of the renovation and cart path only, I would not have played there.
Roads and clubhouse under construction
The golf course was great. The only negative was the construction activity and lack of signage with instruction of where to check in, get a cart, etc. We understand when done this will be an improvement but don't let people wonder what to do upon arrival.
Another try - another disappointment!
This is the third time playing this course. It is very well maintained and it looks like a great course, however I have never played the entire 18 holes. Talking Sticks packs in WAY too many people into this course. First-it seems like there is always construction going on at the course-difficulty to find a parking space and then find the clubhouse. Two - again-didn't have enough carts, had to wait for a cart to be returned and we almost missed our tee time. Third, the pace of play was horrendous!! We waited on every hole and we only played 6 holes in 2 hours. Not worth the time, energy and pay. I'm done!
