No water in any of the coolers around the course on one of the hottest days.

Course very barren...

The undulating fairways and elevated greens make this an interesting and fun course. Fairways have lots of bare spots but it is end of summer so hoping cooler weather will green things up. Despite that the greens were in really good shape!

I’ve played here a few times and it’s never been anything luxurious but if you hit your ball wherever there was supposed to be grass, it was fine. Fairways used to be ok and greens were decent. I went out today and half the course is completely dried out, half just rock solid dirt. It’s in awful condition. Tee boxes are all dead grass and uneven, fairways and rough are half dirt, half dead grass, and everything else is shot. Greens are patchy with lots of dry spots. Carts are nice and fast, staff are very friendly and helpful and it has a decent dining area. But I wouldn’t play here again until I can hit through the ground again. Really needs a lot of work

The course isn’t terrible, but it’s not great either.

There are several greens that have weeds growing in them, so your ball will take random jumps or bumps. Re Putt if you’d like, but chances are it’s going to jump in a different direction.

Hitting out of a bunker? False. You’re hitting off of cart path.

Fairways are good.

Price point $80. No where near the quality of a San Vincente that’s at the same cost. I understand to fix some of the major issues you have to make money. But if they don’t lower the price, most people might play the course once and see a Cottonwood or Riverwalk is better priced and slightly better courses.

Trying to improve course, still rough, needs marshall to keep up pace of play. Tee boxes rough. No french fries, told to wait till food truck gets there. Could use a cart person for snacks.

Course in very poor condition, no sand in bunkers, fairways dry dead grass or dirt, greens poor condition and tee's overgrown weed or dirt. Only played the course because of GolfNow's hot deals made it very cheap.

Front 9 was closed due to work on the greens…played the back 9 twice, course is in decent condition as they’re working on the areas around the greens. Several tee boxes are uneven and/or beat up. Fairways are average, lots of dead grass & bare spots throughout the fairways (understandable with how hot it is right now). Lots of uneven terrain which made for a very bumpy cart ride throughout the round.

It was 100° out and hardly anyone was on the course, so for less than $40 it was a good value for the condition the course is in. Finished 18 holes in under 3 hours which was nice.

The restaurant & bar were fantastic, the pro shop was OK and the Yamaha golf cart were the best.

Now on the other hand, the golf course was horrible! it looked like back in the day that it was very nice, but today the only nice is the greens, all other areas (fairways, rough, bunkers) were dead, dried out & absolutely no sand in the traps. I do not believe they have a greens keeper other than for just the greens.

I played with a couple that just arrived from Switzerland and was embarrassed and I just played Balboa, Cottonwood which is also in east county and it was a 10 compared to Carlton Oaks. Do not believe the pictures on the web because it does not look remotely anything nice. Why did I rate the course "Somewhat Challenging" because I was hitting my ball off dirt 75% of the time.

I will NEVER play Carlton Oaks again!

Hidden gem! Kinda dry right now but it’s been very hot lately so it’s to be expected. Challenging course . My friends and I go later in the day and frequently see deer on the course. Very friendly staff in the pro shop and bar and grill. Large menu for a pleasant dinner after playing.

Greens had weeds growing all over the place and absolute meteorite sized pitch marks on every single one. Tee boxes not well maintained. Some of the holes couldn’t tell between the fairway and the rough. Way too overpriced for the quality of course it is. Terrible course maintenance

Hands down worst course ever played. Made it to hole 3 and turned around and went to pro shop to get our money back. The guy was friendly and gave us a full refund. He said the irrigation pipes are busted so they have to water by hand. He understood. Don't waste your time and golf here. It's crap
