Nice course, rough greens
Great day for golf after all the rain. Thursday afternoon play, so no crowds. But man, the green are having some issues, dont know if a fungus or? But most of the green have rough dead spots. Too bad, most putts were bumpy challenges.
San Marcos Executive
Great course, a few greens need some attention (dead spots) need replacing.
Unfair Reviews
This course is not as bad as everyone is saying. The club house is beautiful and cute. The employees are friendly. The pace of play was great. The course cart path could use some work, but it’s really not that big of an inconvenience. It’s been really rainy the last couple of weeks here and I think the course is fine given that.
Horrible conditions, slow play
New ownership has seen a decline in the quality of this place. Just played this past weekend and the conditions were laughable. The greens were like putting on a carpet, they clearly haven’t bothered to cut them recently, and yet they demand $100 for a round. The audacity of these new owners is astounding. They put lots of money into trying to get people to spend theirs at the clubhouse, restaurant and silly new stores adjacent to the facilities while completely ignoring the course. I refuse to go back until ownership changes again and will advise everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague!
Meh!
Ok course for beginners but hardly worth traveling more than 15 mins. I was taken in by 4 star rating... yikes .
Great Short Course:
My son and I love this course. You get to hit 3 or 4 long drives and some beautiful short 3’s! Course is kept in great condition and Eric and his staff are very welcoming. Try it and you will return.
Slow play
The last few times we’ve been out the slowness of play has been horrible. It took us 4 1/2 hours for the round yesterday, waited at almost every hole, sometimes for 10 minutes. The foursome we followed spent 5 minutes on every hole driving their carts around looking for their balls and some of the holes are barely 100 yards. You need someone out on the course enforcing the speed of play and the rules of playing the game with consideration.
Place could have so much potential
I’ve played here before and we paid $54 to walk on a Friday. Today, I was thinking about walking or riding, asked the gent in the pro shop how much it would be to ride vs walk and he said $12 additional to ride bringing the total to $72., decided to ride since I normally walk. What made our whole group annoyed was the fact that we weren’t told that it was cart path until we got onto the first tee box. For $72 and the patchy greens it was not worth riding for that price. Sucks because we all had our push carts in our cars. By the time we found out it was cart path only was when we had to tee off. Not to mention the last rain was a week and a half ago and the course was pretty dry in a majority of spots. We also had two “local” players on our tail hitting into us all while they got the luxury to drive to their balls because they have their own personal golf cart with no GPS boundaries. TELL PEOPLE ITS CART PATH ONLY BEFORE THEY PAY TO RIDE! Thnx rant over.
If you like golfing in dirt
They absolutely should not be charging more than 20.00 a round. Will never go back!!
The Links
The entire facility is great. There is a large driving range, 2 putting greens, and a bunker practice area.
The greens were in need of repair as there were a lot of bare or thin spots. Same with the tee box area. Many had very little grass. But all in all the course was very playable. I’ll be playing again soon.
I’d like to see a change that allows carts to be taken into the parking lot as I don’t like dropping off my clubs.
Just moved to area
I played this course over a year ago and enjoyed it. Now I live a mile away and can't wait to take advantage of playing here regularly. Yes it can be a little wet early in the morning but that makes for fun golf. I love that I can get an early tee time even to play 9 so I still have the rest of the day to do things!
Needs Improvement - disappointing round
Every green was in poor condition and playing was moot as they were so rutty and/or missing grass completely. The course was so wet and muddy.
The driving range was closed on a weekend for some bizarre reason. Round took 5-1/2 hours because there are no marshals to push people for pace of play.
I have played there a lot and it’s slowly gone down hill.
Fun track
Nice layout, new carts, good value. 3 hour round on a Saturday, seemed to move at a decent pace. Greens were actually pretty quick and in good shape overall. Tee Boxes and bunkers are pretty horrible however. Awesome for beginners or anyone looking to sharpen up their approach game.
Will definitely be back!
