Pala Mesa Resort

It was a pleasure to spend the morning there.

Staff was great the round was great.

I left my range finder in the cart and was able to call next day and the staff found it and I got it back.

Much like my golf game this course needs lots of work

I love this course, ever since Pala Casino took over it’s been watered and green and able to have divots taken out of it!

Like the thin fairways, very challenging for me. Good price too and the service / employees was great

I play three to four rounds a week, and this is the first time I felt I should leave a review. The course is average at best. Good place to hangout out if you have 5 1/2 hours to kill. Much better courses for the money in the area. Horrible pace of play. 12:10 tee time on a Monday, and called it quits on hole 15 and went home after 3 1/2 hours. There were two to three groups on or waiting for 20-30 minutes a hole. I didn’t have another two hours to complete the round. Won’t be back, save your money and go somewhere else.

When I asked the pro shop attendant if it is always this slow, the guy was fairly rude. “I can’t answer you without details”.

Staff at check in are friendly and attentive.

Staff at the food shack are quick with food and drinks . Course was in amazing condition.

I used to played here a lot. Today is the 1st time after my 2 year gap of injury. The course is maintained very well and the stuffs are friendly. I am surprised that the course is almost empty. It used to be very crowded. Maybe because it is Monday.

Not that I want to be in bunkers, but I did occasionally get in one or two, and they are fresh, fluffy deep sand well maintained, just like the entire course.

Fairway's green, rough faily measured at 4 inches and greens clean and smooth.

After this course was taken over by the resort, the pricing shot up over 2x using the improvements being made to the course as the reason. Paying $50 a round here before this was one of the best kept secret value courses around but paying $120-140 was not. Now it's come back down to hovering around $100 which is reasonable for what the course offers.

I would only play this course again if everything was booked. According to golfnow this is a 4.5 rated course. I would give it a 3. The rough was poorly mowed and bunkers unraked. I would expect these conditions at an inexpensive muni course. The advertisement that this is rated in the top 200 courses in the country is completely inaccurate.

Most of the other reviews seem fairly accurate for this course.

Staff was very friendly. Course was fairly empty on a weekday afternoon. Layout was challenging. As other reviews mentioned, the rough made things tough. Not so much of an issue of losing plenty of balls, but it did affect short game shots which affected where the ball landed on the green (or back off the green) and the greens were challenging. (For locals, think Balboa Park.)

Also mentioned in other reviews, the carts were nice and modern but they were somewhat annoying locking down sometimes more than 100 yards from the green. I get being protective of the greens, but more than 100 yards seemed a bit much. And $10 for a small bucket of maybe 20 really junky range balls to warm up seemed a little expensive.

Course definitely worth the $35 I spent (Hot Deal and monthly $10 off coupon.) Probably worth up to $75. $100 for weekend would be a little much for me.
