Great golf course but…
The golf course itself is good. I’m a 3 handicap and was paired with beginners. It took us a while to play each hole, which is fine. However, we waited 5-10 minutes for our tee shot after. 5:30 hour round. Not the best, not the worst experience.
Enjoyed this course
Great round of golf. Staff was very friendly. It was not crowded so pace of play was great. Course was in good condition. Rough was long and sometimes challenging. Greens are large and tricky. If I lived here I would play it frequently. Great value.
Great Course
Even after 3 days of hard rain, the course was in newly immaculate condition. Fairways were bright green and trimmed well. Rough was full and thick, only downside being the bunkers were watered out quite a bit. Greens played a bit slow but were rolled well. Loved the course, will be back.
North county gem
This course is a must play if you’re visiting north San Diego.
Great condition, long plush cut fairways. Greens fast and tricky if behind the hole. Staff who cares about the course and the game. Highly recommend..
Good layout, good conditions, good pace
Played this course 36 hours after a big storm (3+ inches of rain) and it was already in good shape again and only 2 holes were cart path only. Pro shop and starter were both friendly and helpful, carts were new/updated, pace of play was fine (4:15 for 18), and the course has a variety of interesting holes and elevation changes.
Nice course and great pace!
Played this course on a Thursday morning. They had a Hot Deal for an 8:50 tee time. The course was in great condition, some greens needed some work by the fringe (2-3 holes). The pace of play was great (it was a weekday). We finished in under 4 hours. The layout was great and I’d definitely play here again.
Fantastic!
This us a very nice facility overall. The course requires accuracy to hit fairways and greens. The greens roll fast and true but have some dead spots that do not affect play too much. The staff is great and accommodating!
Great Challenging Course
Had a great time playing the course in the morning. It offered a great challenge, with longer holes with tons of bunkers to make a hazard a true hazard. The only thing that I felt was a bit of a let down was the inconsistent green quality. They were a bit patch to where putts would die out on spots and then keep rolling in others. If the price went down to $85 a round this would be a GEM, however a good course that offers great challenge to a more experienced player.
Roll The Dice
It had been 5+ years since my last round at Pala Mesa and I am happy to have returned. Some of the holes remained familiar and the narrow layout is penal for a wayward driver. But the course is fair and rewards good shots. The par 3's play to similar yardages but present their own challenges; Uphill vs. downhill, protected by deep bunkers, sloping greensites, etc. I chose to play Pala Mesa because of the short scorecard yardage and restaurant ammenities while hosting my dad for a vacation round of golf and it was the perfect venue on the perfect day. We went off as a twosome and played the full round in just over 3 hours. Pala Mesa will be back in my rotation for more future rounds, hopefully with a more accurate game off the tee.
For a hot deal, it was great
Pala Mesa is back! Conditions were good, glad they are reviving this place. There is more work to be done on off course stuff, but we were happy with everything tee to green.
Course preparedness
Due to recent rains I expected some wet conditions but there are thing I would think would have been done immediately after the rains. Such as raking of the sand on the traps/bunkers. The sand contours were unplayable. If maintenance had simply gone out there and ran a rake over them before play the round would have been more enjoyable.
