Hidden gem in Ramona

We love to play this course. It's pretty and peaceful. It is so green and always beautiful. There are challenging spots as well as nice wide open green fairways. The greens are pristine like carpet. The fauna is always enjoyable from wild turkeys along the tree lines to egrets on the water's edge. The only drawback would be the driving distance to get there. But, then again, it's remoteness is one of the reasons I call it a hidden gem.

This course is fun to play

They said they over seeded and we could not drive carts on fairways. Play was extra slow for some reason. I play there once or twice a year and is always a great course to play and usually takes 3.5 to 4.0 hrs to play as a single. I would recommend this course to anyone.

In great shape for lat summer

Greens are soft and plush, fairways have a few dry spots but, overall, very fun to play. Several holes have large trees right in the middle of the fairway obstructing approach shots. Local knowledge (or GPS with hole info) would have been helpful.

greens again running at 6 on stemp

When no notice is given that greens are being maintained and therefore VERY slow, it makes for a waste of money. Putting can be totally messed up for other courses where normal greens are played.

Great Layout

I really enjoyed the layout. It requires you to use most of the clubs in your bag and is well populated with bunkers. Greens were a bit shaggy, but the rest of the course was in good shape.

This course is on the top of our list to play

We always enjoy playing this course. The staff is extra friendly and helpful. The course is in good condition. Parts of it are being improved. The staff could better monitor the slow play. We had to move around a group of 5 that were giving each other instructions. Really?????

Well worth the drive!

San Vicente is an excellent value. The Ted Robinson layout is well designed using the Ramona foothills natural contours. There are four tees to accommodate every skill set. The conditions, while not pristine, are much better than any comparable value in all of San Diego County. My travel time from Rancho Bernardo is a mere 35 minutes, only 15 more than it is to drive to Torrey Pines. I play the black tees that are 6633 yds with a slope of 132. It's a very good test. Practice facilities are ok, but the food is great. The hot time on the weekdays is $18 and it's easy to book the weekend at 2:00 for $23. A must play.

The course is in good shape for mid summer.

We played in the afternoon and it was very enjoyable. Mostly small groups on the course and the pace was fairly fast. Greens were in great shape as were the tee boxes.

course in great shape...greens were perfect!

First time playing San Vicente. Every thing went well. Fairways were not perfect but better than most. The greens were some of the best I've seen in Southern California. Overall, except for my score it was a perfect outing!!!

This is a hidden jewel of a course.

This course is a good/great course for medium - good level golfers. It is well designed and the greens are in very good condition. Lying in a picturesque setting, it is very enjoyable at the same time several holes are challenging.

This is a great course; one of my favorites!

These days, with many courses in such bad shape, it's refreshing to play on a course that is actually well maintained. San Vicente is by far one of the nicest courses in San Diego for the money. To get the same great conditions, one would need to play at high-end courses like Maderas or Torrey Pines.

Great Shape minus the slow greens

First time out here and pleasantly surprised. Course overall is is nice shape, but the greens are a bit on the slow side. Started about 30 minutes late at 10:30 because a shotgun ran longer? Front desk guy wasn't the friendliest, but did his job.

Nice layout, well maintained and a pleasure to play.

San Vicente is a pleasant country club course. The layout is nicely done and the course is easily navigated, with good cart access. Greens were growing tall for the summer heat which made putts slow. Fairways were in excellent shape, and, there was actual sand in the bunkers.
