The Resort at Pelican Hill
About The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Resort at Pelican Hill is one of SoCal's trendiest getaways, whether it's for golf or to unwind. The resort takes inspiration from the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Each one-story bungalow guest room or suite features its own limestone fireplace, private terrace and marble bath. The 2- to 4-bedroom villas are secluded within their own gated community. Guests can lounge at the Coliseum pool and spa or shuttle to the Crystal Cove beach. Tom Fazio's North and South courses both kiss the Pacific Ocean with outstanding views throughout the round. Six restaurants will tempt your appetite.Facts

Poor Value
Driving range sub par. Grass with sand underneath.
No scorecard, no water in cart
Greens were no better than any municipal golf course. Very bumpy and not well maintained.
Pace of play was terrible and no Marshall in sight.
I would not recommend this golf course to anyone for the price you have to pay.
Very disappointed
Best Public Course In OC
Title speaks for itself. This is the best public course in Orange County.
Beautiful
I have played In Hawaii and this was the most beautiful course I have ever played and very challenging.
Beautiful course
Always looking love playing Pelican Hill. So glad they partnered with GolfNow. Booking was easy
and price was great.
Not quite Troon, but scenery makes it up for 5 star
One of Fazio design at its best. The blessing is the course is sitting on a terrific terrain. Almost every hole has view to the ocean, somewhat panoramic though. Half of the holes have great layout, the other half are somewhat average. The quality of course is not quite Troon level actually. I expected better for the price I was paying. Still had blast paying this course today, and I'll be back for South next time.
Great Views
This was my first time playing this course and I was very impressed. I played the south course and the greens were perfect the layout is tough but fair. Keep the ball in the fairway and you will have a good look at birdie. There are a lot of elevation changes and some forced carries over canyons. They all look farther than they are and it should be no problem if you are playing from the appropriate tees. Overall this is a great course and the views are worth the price. I will return to play the North course.
North Course at PH delivers again,
This was my second time at the PH North in little over a year. The course was in even better shape than previously. The greens were a bit slower as I played at the end of the day on Sunday.... still very true and held up speed well.
The layout, unlike the South Course, prevents you from overpowering the course. A good plan and positioning of the ball will reward any level player. I've put my driver back in the bag on several holes and opted out to 4 iron or 3 wood on several holes, which rewarded me with a fantastic scoring opportunity. My plying partners, assigned by the shop, were equally surprised how the course rewards smart play over power play.... this makes this a thinking golfers track and one that I will come back to over and oner. In fact this was one of my best rounds ever.
I do recommend the North course to anyone that wants to play Pelican Hill and does not want to be defeated by lack of power, but likes the risk reward that the course offers.
For me, I will be back here in couple of weeks and will do the North Course again.
The Pebble of the Southern California!
This is a gem hidden in the plain site. I've played most of the California Coast courses. And this one is one of the most beautiful places you can visit, and I would say is right behind that of any Coast Courses up in Monterey County that included Pebble and Spanish Bay.
The weather was perfect and the recent morning fog kept the South Course just perfect... this course calls for consistency and imagination while playing. For anyone that likes the game of golf this is one place to visit.
My group was shocked how perfect the place was/is and how playable it is. Great views and great sounds of the Ocean.... plenty of vistas that call for photograph.
This place is definitely worth the price of admission.
Tas
Perfect round with a deal
We got a 2 for 1 deal so only paid $135 which is well worth it for this course. Course was in amazing shape and the views were surreal. Only two knocks i would have is the lack of a putting green that's on par with the course/range and the complete lack of places to fill up your water bottle. Outside of that it was one of my favorite rounds Ive played, 5 stars
Swanky
The clubhouse is as Nice as anywhere you’ll ever go. The range was nice. Real grass to hit off of with a lot of targets. Ocean holes were pretty. The course conditions were fine. The price tag is not worth it. It’s a resort course so they get away with charging $250+. I didn’t see any caddies on the course but thought that was a thing here. Torrey pines is a much nicer alternative down the freeway a bit and it’s roughly the same price. I’d compare this course with Aviara in Carlsbad. One problem I did have is the bunkers had large rocks. At least the bunkers I had to hit out of.
Pelican Hill Ocean South
Fabulous course, condition & weather !!!!!
Great value at $171 (minus $10 credits)
Over rated
Extremely slow pace of play. Player assistants don’t do anything. Members that play there are very slow.
Nice course
Course was in fairly good condition. Weather was unseasonably cold and windy. Greens were immaculant, but reading them is quite difficult. Most putts break toward the ocean... have to remember that.
challenging and tough green
Beautiful golf course, with many pitch angle challenges. Coming from Flat Land Florida, the angles were fun, but challenging. Greens were tough to read. Overall, our group had a lot of fun. Beverage cart came around frequently. Carts have gps, which helped a lot. Pace was steady this day.
