The Resort at Pelican Hill
About The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Resort at Pelican Hill is one of SoCal's trendiest getaways, whether it's for golf or to unwind. The resort takes inspiration from the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Each one-story bungalow guest room or suite features its own limestone fireplace, private terrace and marble bath. The 2- to 4-bedroom villas are secluded within their own gated community. Guests can lounge at the Coliseum pool and spa or shuttle to the Crystal Cove beach. Tom Fazio's North and South courses both kiss the Pacific Ocean with outstanding views throughout the round. Six restaurants will tempt your appetite.Facts

Pelican Hills Ocean course
This course has spectacular views and pin placements. The greens and fairways were in excellent condition. This course rivals Pebble and Punta Estrada in the Dominicana s.
Layout Makes Up for Poor Greens
This course is a total knockout from the beauty perspective! It's just a spectacular layout, and especially on hole 11-14, I just found my jaw dropping at how gorgeous it was. The course itself is very demanding and punishing if you don't put your ball in the right place, especially off the tee. The fairways are in good shape, but I found the greens surprisingly slow and bumpy today (MUCH slower than the practice green, which was really disappointing). Still, I'm giving five starts because it's just spectacular.
Expensive with an attitude
I From Pebble Beach to Monarch Beach I’ve played 50 different courses in the last 15 months. This is the ONLY COURSE that, as a single player, requires you to pair up in a cart with someone you don’t know from another household. Pandemic? Delta variant?
I even offered to pay an additional rider fee. Still no. At $365 don’t you think an elite resort course would’ve had enough carts?? They don’t!!
Their indifference and attitude in the pro shop was shocking. I cancelled, drove 15 minutes to Tustin Ranch, and had a very nice round.
Will not return until you get enough carts Pelican Hill!!
Fun Day
Staff was great and very helpful. Course layout was great. Very challenging in the afternoon. Fairways and tee boxes were very good. Bunkers were good. Greens were very tricky and be mindful of were the pin is on your approach shots. The only non positive was the green speed- for the most part they were slower than expected running about 8 or 9 but a few were quicker and made it harder to adjust from hole to hole. Will definitely come back but very pricy. May try the south course next time.
Gorgeous
Beautiful course, beautiful day, great food and I only lost 3 balls. It’s a victory.
Not quite up to par
Greens were excellent. Fairways and areas around the greens, not so much. Lot of bare spots and weeds. Course itself awesome to look at and play. Some really cool par threes. Certainly a high rent district type of place. Too bad course maintenance wasn’t in step with everything else.
