Slow and slower
This course does not manage its play. The starter is the ranger but repeatedly no one managed the two slow groups in lead. 5hours 30 min. To play what normally would be 3hour 45 min. Is ridiculous I feel a partial refund would be appropriate. Manage the pace of play.
Great Course, Very Sad Greens
I alway enjoy playing the Legends course. Very interesting and challenging lay out that has alway been in very good shape whenever I played. But this fall an invasive grass has taken over the greens creating detours when hit and making putts difficult at best and impossible at worst.
That said, I still enjoyed the round and wish I could give it 3.5 stars because I love the course. I hope they get the greens fixed soon because it is a shame to let such a nice lay out get over shadowed by bad greens. .
Greens were horrible
Having played this course in the past knowing its changed hands a few times I didn't think the greens would be in such poor shape.
But let address the small things that add up quickly. First things first.
The 4 of us were an hour ahead of our t-time 8:50.
We shared 2 buckets of balls and practiced putting. The practice balls we terrible. Almost as if they found these at the bottom of a pond. Discolored, several brand names, some covers were cut or scratched to extremes.sad to say.
The woman in the pro shop at Legends was the joy of the morning. She was friendly and as nice as could be. Although she doesn't drink it, she made a great coffee.
Once we were ready to tee off, we asked if any towels were available. Sadly, none were ready. They were all in the wash. Having a towel during a humid morning is very helpful for several reasons. One would think someone would have made sure that clean towels were at the ready with rain in the days forecast.
Once we approach the starter one of our players asked if he had any golf tees. The starter had not a one. Really? Golf tees? Towels? Seriously?
The worst was yet to come.
After 4 nice drives off the first Tee, 3 of us were on the green in 2. Upon our marking our ball we noticed the greens were filled with weeds and I am talking many weeds that affected putting so much it was sad.
Didn't Orange Lake just get through seeding a month or 2 ago?
Every green on supposedly the best course out of all at Orange Lake courses had weeds embedded all over the putting surface.
Almost $220 for 18 holes for 4 persons and it was like they had no idea people were playing today.
The scarey thing is we all are locals.
This may have been the last chance we give this course.
I can honestly say the Legends used to be the best course, I have no idea what happened but fair warning is now being given. I'd hate to see the other courses and greens.
Wet and challenging
We had an 8:59 tee time. Started early at 8:34. Nobody in front of us. Done in four hours. Course was extremely wet and soggy. Front nine were some tight lanes off the tee. Bunkers were excellent, greens not so much - a bit lumpy. Overall we enjoyed the round
.
The Eagles Fly
We played at mid day the legends course was in good condition there was a few areas of a different longer grass on greens but we thoroughly enjoyed our day
Not suitable for tournament play
Not enough carts for a tournament with 16 teams.
Shop staff not particularly helpful.
Box lunches sat out in FL heat.
Holes 8, 9, and 18 are cramped together in a nearly dangerous way.
The distance from 10 green to 11 tee is unsuitable for tournament play.
The green was not in good shape. But the layout si very nice
Nice course and friendly staff . Greens and fairways were in good condition and I usually play here every year at least once on vacation.
Not worth the cheap price
Called ahead of time and asked about rentals and were told by the lady about rentals for the nicer course. We showed up to warm up and get ready and had to wait for the staff to get there to get us going so they were late. We got some really bad knock off clubs for rentals and also had to end up sharing clubs because he didn't want to have too few sets for later tee times. We wouldn't return to play there for sure.
Always enjoy this course......
Once we found this course, we play here often. A young man from Scotland joined us and it was a fun afternoon.
Legends at Orange Lake
This course is very well maintained and it offers just enough challenge to make it a fun course to play. Shots require precision in order to avoid multiple water hazards and soft sand bunkers that surround some of the holes. I've played the course three times and it has become one of my favorites in the area. Would highly recommend it.
Good course, as it has been for years
Play this every few years, fair price, good layout, but not perfect. Like most courses. Greens and fairways were in good condition.
Wide Fairways
Course was in good shape lots of rain last few days should help
Great value for money
Aggressive pricing makes this the bargain golf choice in the Orlando area at present. At $25 per head, you won’t find a better quality course at such good value for money.
Greens look and play well, and, considering the footfall, the fairways play well. But don’t expect the round to be quick, unless you get out early. It is full most days. We’ve played here twice recently. Early start took 3h 30mins for 4-ball, late start took 5 hours for 2-ball.
Well worth the money if you get lucky.
