Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Busy but course of play moved right along
Second time playing here. Tee time was 11am and they paired us with another couple...who we never saw.
First cart broke down at first tee. Was replaced quickly. Very nice staff, especially the very busy cart guy.
It was busy at the first few tees but opened up after the 5th or 6th.
Greens looked good. 18 holes took 3.5 hours.
I’d recommend this course.
This course can be a great course, needs a lot of work.
We have played this course for several years with wonderful reviews. Unfortunately it looks as if the course is currently under new ownership and has been neglected prior to purchase. Needs much needed work on tee boxes and the greens. I do love the course layout and the course amenities. Hope new owners work to make this a nice course again.
Very nice
Some bare spots but greens and fairways are mostly in good shape. Like the layout
First time. Would play again.
Caught a Hot Special. Pleasantly surprised. Semi-private in a golf community. Course in real good shape after a hot summer.
FunDay
The friendly and helpful Staff always gets the day started off right. The course layout ensures a challenging but fun round.
I like to play RW whenever I can. I highly recommend River Wilderness.
Great track and old school club vibe
This is my 5th time playing RW this year and was by far the best condition. The dry week we had helped a ton im sure after this brutal rain season. The greens rolled great but had some sandy spots. Staff is super friendly and not snobby like some clubs. Plenty of carts although a bit old. Great track I think its equally as fun as it tough with some blind spots and big tricky traps. No cart girl with any drinks is huge bummer especially on hot days with no water jugs due to COVID. But always a fun time playing here.
Wide manicured fairways
With all the recent rain, the fairways are green and cut low. Wide fairways and no forest makes for a fast round of golf.
Do not waste your money
I have been to some pretty bad courses in the past, and this one by far takes 1st place. There was no such thing as tee boxes, they were about 3 inch tall mix between weeds and grass (80% weeds). The “fairways” were literally worse condition than the rough. Could barely find your ball in the middle of the “fairway” because of how high the grass was. Will never come back
River Wilderness
We decided last minute to play, and found a course close to home. The price was right and included cart. We expected more from the course. Obviously with the daily rain it was soggy but at some points the fairways were sloppy and Marsh mud holes. The greens looked like they were being re-worked. Cart path was worse then a country back road with pot holes and roughness. Overall it wasn’t bad for the price. Pace of play was good and consistent. Will probably try to go again to see if the course conditions improve outside of our Rain soaked nights.
Good value
Golf courses in Florida are hard to judge in the summer months due to the abundance of rain.. With that said , I feel that I received a good quality golf course for the cost of the round.
Excellent Value, Nice Greens
Played using a ‘Hot Deal’, teeing off just before noon. Heavy rains night before, & morning of, our round left fairways waterlogged & sand traps unplayable. However, greens held up well & rolled true. Started raining, off & on, on front but we were able to get through 14 holes before lightning & storms forced us to quit. However, we would go back & find that the layout, & speed of greens, make this a very good value during Florida’s late summer slow season.
great course, not being maintained
This course has a really nice layout and has traditionally been a nice course at a fair price, so good value.
However, the fairways are going going to pot -- much crabgrass (or some other weed) and many tee boxes are a mess
Nice layout
This course is pretty, challenging, and has fast greens.
If the course could increase the maintenance budget it would be one to go back to again and again.
Of course it would cost more also, but it would be worth the extra that you would pay.
Right now the course also suffers from lots of summer rain, which can't be helped.
Swamp
Course was extremely wet, lost 4 balls in fairways because of water and muddy areas from rain. They should not have even opened the course this time.
Usually this is a good place to enjoy a nice round.
