First Time
Booked using golfnow hot deals and $40 of rewards so the round only cost $50. Tee time was 1 pm Thursday. Arrived early and got out right away. Course was in great shape. Greens are SMALL AND FAST! Have played the Watson course and is of equal track. Looking forward to playing Palmer in the future
Course and greens in great shape
Course was in great condition. Greens were aerated about 3 weeks before I played and they were fully healed.
Extremely fun round
Loved the layout of course with sloped fairways and double tiered greens. Greens ran a bit slow as they were recently punched but ball still rolled well. Pace of play excellent even after a morning tournament.
Great golf course
If you are in the area go and play this golf course you will love it
Great Course, but Not the Best Course Conditions
I played the course two weeks ago and enjoyed the round (despite the slow play as we were following a college tournament) that I wanted to come back. Enjoyed the course even more the second time as the slow play was not as much of a problem. My only complaint is that some of the fairways are not in as good a condition as I would expect for a private course like this one. Also, there is no such thing as rough. Other than that, a very interesting course to play. Will definitely come back.
Fun course
The Palmer course was a good time. It was in fair condition and the course layout is challenging but fun. Greens rolled well and green side bunkers were easy to play from. Look forward to my next visit.
Drive it well
Fair off the tee, undulating fairways. Smaller, but fair greens. Greenside bunkers might be the best place to miss the greens.
Great Course, but Not the Best Course Conditions
I know some people don't like Nicklaus courses, but I really enjoyed the layout - the variety of holes and the elevation changes, which are not that common in central Florida.
To be fair, the pace of play issue was distorted by the fact that we were immediately following a college golf tournament, so the competitors had to be strictly adhering to the rules of golf and also putting everything out.
The greens were playing fast because of the college tournament, but my rating of the course conditions was more directed to the fact that the grass was spotty in places and there were more than one green with weeds.
The rating on the off-course amenities was based on the length of time it took to get refreshments after 9 holes and the fact that the Pro Shop was closed by the time we finished our round (only 6:30 pm).
Having said all the above, I am going back for another round in the next few days.
Watson Course
Course was in great condition, great experience, they have plenty of water, staff was very nice, pace of play was great. The course is difficult, but had 5 sets of tees to choose from. Driving range may need some work.
I highly recommend this course!
Course in great condition
As this was the first time playing this course I was impressed with the challenge it presented. It had a as ter carries and some blind shots! The greens were undulating and tricky. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!!
Surprisingly underwhelming
So I am not saying this is a bad course by any means, the layout was challenging, staff was friendly but I was surprised that a course that charges what they do to normally play would not be in PRISTINE condition. I always thought these were the premier courses in the area but I can't say that they are based on what I saw. I am only grading the way I am based on what the expectations were because of the price and reputation.
Championsgate GC and Southern Dunes which are truly public and less expensive are in better shape in my opinion and a much better value for the money. I'd play it again if it was cheaper, I only played it because I caught a hot deal on Golfnow.
Fantastic Scenic Layout
Absolutely beautiful layout. Everything about the design was truly outstanding. The design of the greens was interesting and challenging, to say the least. Only detractor on the course was the lack of watering on many brownout areas. I guess understandable with the lack of rain this time of the year. I got a great rate here, but would not pay the $130 fee I saw before. I was told in the pro shop $130 was a cheap rate for this course. Can’t imagine paying more.
