fun surprise
After booking and saw the yardage thought I made a mistake and booked a par 3 course. Don't let that yardage fool you, plenty of golf there for even the advanced golfer. Course in great shape, best in the area that we played. Lots and lots of water, if you happen to hit the ball to the right a lot, be prepared fro a long day and brings lots of extra ammo.. I could play this course every day, really enjoyed it. Give yourself extra time to get there took forever to get around the island.
Great layout, great conditions. Like playing in a bird sanctuary.
Short course so you can leave the driver in the trunk. I learned the hard way. Easy to drive the ball into trouble. 3 wood is all that is needed here and that sometimes could be too long. Had a mixup on with tee time but the Pro got us out without any problem. I've played 8 courses down here in the past month. The Dunes was in magnificent condition, better than any place I've plated including Bonita National and Magnolia Landing. Plantings everwhere. Birds, ducks, eagles, osprey, pelicans and lots more. There is water on almost every hole. The day we played it was windy so playing a new course on a windy day gave me all the excuse I needed after I tallied up my 94. Lost 6 balls in the process but it was well worth it. Beautiful experience. Good luck and bring extra balls.
Slow Play
Course is in good shape - also lots of interesting wildlife. Staff is good. Layout of course is very difficult due to LOTS OF PONDS, especially if you are just starting your golf season (northerners).
Biggest problem is slow play. Big backups on tees - one group teeing off and two more groups waiting. This lasted for much of the back nine. Had to leave after 15 holes - took 4.5 hours. Not sure if I will go back
One of my favorite courses .Unfortunately we got behind a 4-some that played extremely slow. Other than that it was a great day.
Nice course
Good course. Chris is welcoming, courteous, and knowledgeable Enjoyed course, come back every year would always recommend.

Dunes a beautiful course
Course in great shape but water on every hole makes it tougher than the yardage would tell you.
Best island golf in FtMyers area
Stunning views on first tee box.The staff is friendly and helpful.Don't let the short yardage lull you into a sense of false security. There is plenty of challenge for all levels. No two holes look the same.I like that.Great happy hour at Traders restaurant just down the road.Excellent food.
Short and tight
Course is in great shape. You must be able to hit it extremely straight and you can't hit it over the greens. Hit a lot of irons off the tee instead of the driver. Some reachable par 4's - but big risk/reward. A worker/member showed us around the course - extremely helpful. Good experience - I'd go back again.
Dunes.
Course has nice views and interesting layout. Course is quite dry even for this time of year Staff is not friendly in fact snoody. Bag boys rub on your clubs but don't carry them out to the bag drop even after a nice tip. Extremely slow play because of a very slow group. Groups 7 holes behind caught up on the back nine. Four groups on the last hole. NO rangers. When mentioned to the staff after the round there was no comment or explanation. Really did not care. Really a members course just getting in on the seasonal player bonanza.
Back Nine
Front nine were player friendly back nine was difficult from all t boxes with blind shots from tee boxes
Great Public Course
Have now played the Dunes a half dozen times and it is an excellent golf course that is extremely well maintained and run. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers are all in beautiful shape. Very very scenic, excellent staff. Then there is the water! It is everywhere and unless you are are extremely precise you will lose a lot of balls even when playing reasonably well. Along with fairly stiff fees can make for an expensive day! But worth it.
Hidden beauty
Wonderful course, very scenic, but make sure you bring plenty water balls
Don't Let The Scorecard Yardage Keep You From Playing
I started not to play because the scorecard yardage made this course appear to be too short for my ability. However, this is a challenging layout, since there is an emphasis on placement off the tee, because of water on nearly every hole.
I rarely needed to hit my driver, and found that hitting my 3, 4 or 5 hybrid and a short iron was all that was needed on most holes (we played the senior tees). Accuracy is very necessary, and not always distance. The greens were generally well bunkered, challenging, and putted true. All fairways were in very good condition.
Golf with the gators
Always a fun course to play and excellent conditions! Friendly front desk, starters & marshals. Wildlife on every fairway. Best course on Sanibel & surrounding area. Been playing since 1985 and gets better every year!
tight and challenging
The pro shop and cart guys are both really friendly. The course was in good shape, tee boxes good, fairways very nice and well cut. Greens smooth and even, firm and quite fast, also some challenging slopes and undulations. The course is somewhat short, It is a little surprising until you realize how much water there is. The course requires precision for distance as well as direction. Definitely not a bomber's course. We would certainly plat again.
BRING EXTRA BALLS
lots of water here. leave your driver at home. It was windy that day. I typically shoot in the high 80s.... I was well over 100 that day
Hey "william9318857" thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Now that you've seen the course maybe next time you won't lose as many balls!
