Management is delusional.
This course for over 100$ is highway robbery. It’s honestly impressive how poorly this course is taken care of. You would think you survived the Walking Dead and this was 10 years post apocalypse. Greens are very inconsistent and the fairway is riddled with holes rocks and dirt. 0/10
Ripoff
The condition of this course is not good. They want $138 for a tee time on the weekends? It's a ripoff.
Not Worth the Money
At $120 or more per round on the weekends this course is now extremely overpriced. The company that took over management of the course last year is gouging their customers.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY
NO WATER, NO CART GIRLS, HORRIBLE GREENS, BACHELOR PARTIES WITH 9 PEOPLE TRYING TO PLAY HOLES. ABSURD AND NOT EVER PLAYING THERE AGAIN
READ BEFORE BOOKING
The price they’re charging for this course is mind blowing! They’ve completely left this course to die. No part of this course is in even average condition. The carts are 5 years past their pull date and that’s coming from the starters mouth. We had to wait 35 minutes past our tee time for them to get a cart that had enough battery for us to take out. And they’re charging over $110 plus a $20 park entry fee!? It’s an absolute scam and should be illegal doing what they’re doing. I’ve played this course a lot over the past 10 years and it’s by far the worst it’s been. Somehow the price is the most it’s been too… make it make sense
Things the are found on other golf courses than here.
I try to play twice a month. Below It only gives you a choice below for you answer, only once a month.
The corse fairway on all the holes were wide open and less chance of losing your ball in wooded areas that sometimes interfere with the tee off.
There were certain parts of the green where it was not completely even or flat because it was messed up your putt and make it jump to where the imaginary line that you eyed and make you miss the hole.
I'm there to have fun and not be a stick of mud and act like a professional going by all the rules, if I see an area such as this i will drop the ball where it ends. and make putt so it doesn't count against me. Other than that, it was a great experience.
There is one other thing that I've never seen on a golf course which is a good thing, I believe it was the 12th hole, the ball bounced off a retaining wall and landed in marsh pit. When i approached the area i noticed right away that there was a sign that warned you about snakes being in there, therefore I backed from the hole and took a drop on the other side to complete the hole.
My experience was great
I have always wanted to play here. The course conditions were in great shape except for a few greens that were not completely flat whether it was near the hole or a few feet sway from the fringe. There were little patches and bareness of the green as you putt the ball, it jumps up just enough to where it does follow the imaginary line you set up and it misses the hole.
This is not the first course I have seen this and.
'm not sure how to fix this but this canmake you score count against you and I'll drop the ball pass the area and putt the ball in. I dont care if that is not right I'm there to have fun not to be a stick in the mud and putt it where it lies and miss the hole.
Very Very Sad
I remember when this was originally managed by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association and it was very nice. Now it is farmed out to contractors with the Southern Golf Company under contract.
Stonemont is in decent shape. Lakemont is NOT. They should not charge $50 much less $75 for this.
Sand directly on the greens where it is dead. The erosion is IMMENSE everywhere. I really cannot believe they are operating this in this manner.
Played on a Saturday, took 6 hours to complete 18 holes. The greens near the lake were horrid and not worth putting on. For the price, it is so frustrating to play on such poor conditions and the time of play
Not what it use to be
Appeared that maintenance and clean up was needed. Used to be a gorgeous course and would recommend in a heartbeat. Will play again after spring kicks in. Now it is no more than an expensive public course with average appeal.
Awful course
This course is a complete waste of money. It’s hands down the worst-maintained course I’ve played in the Atlanta area. The greens were not only aerated but had literal sand traps on them. The tee boxes were so poorly maintained, you’d be hard-pressed to find any grass at all. It’s outrageous that they charge $80 for such a disgrace of a course. I would never recommend this place to anyone, ever.
Disappointing
I've been playing Stonemont for 40 years. The condition of this course continues to decline. I have played it for the last time. It's not worth the money. Greens were punched, and Golfnow did not disclose that. Other areas of various greens had big piles of sand in the middle of the greens. They don't replace bad areas of greens. This course used to be great 40 years ago. It sucks now. Spend your money somewhere else.
Greens in need!!!!!
Don't mind paying money to play but if you 75 bucks to play your course should be nice greens where so bad I have muni course close to me with better greens drove 2hrs was very disappointed in fairness played about 6 years course was very nice not sure but will be awhile to turn those greens around there a mess
No longer up to par!
The course is in terrible shape. Not seasonally bad but endimcally. Such a good layout and facility, staff is very nice! But when you go out to play what should be a really nice course and find pocked greens, trashed tee boxes, and washed away fairways the rest of it goes no longer matters. They are having massive issues out there and not keeping up the course. The reason I know this is that we saw a rotting possum carcass in the first fairway. Not like recently dead. Like weeks old. No way that would be missed by groundskeepers. Yikes. I'm heading to Southland, where it's the opposite. Terrible facility and the staff is barely existant let alone nice. But man those greens are in GREAT shape. It's a topsy turvy world.
Off season
Two hours of steady rain and 40 degree temperatures are no reason to turn away play by closing. I did find another course that was open for play and it was great. The rain stopped and it was 40 ish degrees, perfect golf weather. I’m guessing the pro shop did not want be bothered with getting out a few carts? Or, for that matter have an idea of a few other golf courses that may be open when asked. But, a shoutout for the only person who did give a couple of suggestions. I think his role is in outside services. Give him a raise.
