The resort is home to the Lake View and Mountain View 18-hole golf courses, both wind and tumble through the rugged and forested terrain. The Callaway Resort & Gardens is set on Robin Lake, which has a beach area, while there is a robust events calendar bringing arts and entertainment to the property. In addition to golf, there are three pools onsite, workshops, hiking, tennis and a spa. The Treetop Adventure is a series of ziplines and bridges in the trees, and there is also a large butterfly center and birds of prey exhibit. For restaurants, there is a multitude of dining areas ranging from fine to casual, beach and poolside fare. Accommodations range from rooms and suites in The Lodge and Spa; more relaxed cottages with full kitchens and fireplaces; large and upscale villas; and the more affordable Mountain Creek Inn.Facts

Fresh Change of Pace
This was my best ever choices for going golfing. Everyone was nice and courteous. The course was in prime shape considering the past few months of harsh hot weather. My Tee time was at 10:30 am on a week day, and played with no one rushing me, allowing me to relax!! When I completed my round the grill was open and had very delicious food. 10 out of 10 most definitely recommended and will return soon.
Course is improving
A new course superintendent was hired 2 months ago. Improvements are being made. Overall rating is because of the setting and surroundings. Weeds are being managed, rough mowed, green fringes are much better, and some new sand added. Greens are slow but in better shape than this spring. They need to work on the Poa annua It still is not a value at the rack rate. Competition in area has better value at rack rate. GolfNow special rate is of value. Food is great at Champions.
Got to play Mt View
Lakeview course was closed. Let us play Mt View. Got rained out only played 9 holes.
I like the layout, bunkers need work, grounds people were nice,as were the restaurant staff
Needs work
This course needs work. A number of tees had insufficient grass amounts and a number of greens had “cancer”. Grass clippings in bunkers Hard to believe the PGA tour used to have a stop here at this course, albeit 25-30 years ago. The players would not have tolerated such conditions!!! This course needs a serious infusion of cash to improve the playing conditions!
‘Enjoyable round
Mountain course is nice layout with lots of sand traps.
Relaxing, always
Callaway always gives me and my wife a relaxing round. Well maintained and nice scenery.
There were many maintenance people working hard to cut the grass and rake the bunkers. We lost some balls hit into the rough and even on the fairways. You will play on the freshly cut grass. Our routine is to visit the Lodge and Spa for refreshments/foods after a round. We recommend you visit this place. The staff will greet you, welcome you, and are willing to make you feel good.
Instructions needed to get around
Staff did not explain-Where is the range, how do I get there, where is #1 Tee box/#10?
Could have easily been solved by, "follow the red/green/blue arrows, which we noticed after the fact. We felt like we were a burden by being there. Would not recommend again.
Okay verse good
No range balls available to warm up before round. Some tee boxes and traps need attention. Greens slow and some need repair. Some under repair but question how they will turn out.
Finished round and went to club house to grab a bite and drink. One server was talking to a foursome and then left, end of shift. Waited, no one came to wait on us after 5 to 7 minutes. Ended up leaving.
Seems the little things and course maintenance continues to lack. Enjoy playing course but a resort course should be a little better.
Callaway Has Really Changed Over the Years-Disappointed but Hopeful!
We Played Lake View Course today!
I would give a lower rating with the Two Exceptions of Charlie and the new Superintendent being brought onboard very recently from Cape Coral Florida. I use to play the course they came from and it was an Awesome Track, so I definitely believe in them both to make the needed changes to this course. Everything on and around the course looks run down and not kept up. there was trash in may areas that we picked up out of courtesy, but should be attended to by the staff routinely. all of the grass needed cutting, many of tee boxes were overgrown, and we did take into consideration the aeration, which was probably done too late into the end of summer. Crab grass plugs on many of the greens and the edges of the greens were horrible and not manicured.
It was very disappointing to see a fabulous course going by the way side for the money that is currently being charged. The Champions Grille was a Major Highlight for this Golf Outing. Food is and was spectacular and the services was also GREAT!!!! Thank you all.
Charlie and the new Guy, Make it Happen Yall. We are all counting on you both to Make Callaway Golf courses Great Again!!!!
Not a resort quality course
With what Callaway gardens is you would expect this to be an elaborate course, but it wasn’t. It was an OK layout with a fair assortment of challenges, guarded greens, plenty of length, etc. Butt there were some glaring issues that take alway for me. The course sorta felt unkempt. No real separation between fairway and short rough with not being able to tell fairway from rough from the tee. The tee boxes were so long! I was hitting grass on every driver. The greens were all over the place, but all not ideal. Either the grass was long and slow and hard to read or the greens were just completely trashed with hard packed, cracked dirt and hardly any grass. I just expect greatness for a course on a resort like this, but this course was no different than my local muni.
Shadow of former self
I was so excited to play here knowing they used to play pga events here a couple decades ago. Arriving to the first tee everything looked great, but hole 2 and onward the fairways were longer than rough at most courses. The greens were terrible. Some needed cut and were like putting in fairway, most were dead or dying, cracked, over sanded. Just a mess honestly. I've played courses for 15 dollars that were much better.
