Sunday Afternoon FUN!
Despite some other reviews that contradict, the course is in really good shape! Greens were a little bare on the edges, but perhaps others who are complaining should be closer to the pins. The greens seemed to have been punched a while back, but they still rolled true. Fairways were green, fast, firm and grassy (unless you call the cart path or tree line the fairway). Our foursome had a lot of fun, even with two foursomes ahead of us, pace was good. I’ll be back!
Greens in Rough Shape
This course is normally beautiful. This last times the greens were in very poor condition. The layout is nice and open for the most part. The scenery is always beautiful. Just disappointed in the greens. Everything else was good.
HLC GOLF
Grass was too anemic looking for June. We have had plenty of rain. Other courses in area have much better grass. Felt like hitting off Bare ground on fairways
Great golf course
Yes, the greens has burnt spots, but the course is awesome. Carvin through this beautiful layout is the wonderful part of this course and should not be overlook. I had a wonderful time and will go back. Take you two strokes on the green and move on, besides the whole location is not near a burnt spot. Again this is a awesome Golf Course.
Really enjoyed the course. I hadn't been there in quite some time. Tee boxes needed a little work, but otherwise, the course was great! Looking forward to returning.
Beautiful course
Greens where really bad! Other than that no complaints.
Disappointing conditions for a GA State park course
I played this course a couple times last year, and I was a bit disappointed and shocked in the conditions of the course today. Especially the greens and tee boxes. The greens are in very rough shape, especially the greens on the back nine. I really like the layout here but the conditions over the past year have gone down dramatically.
The course layout is great and the views and natural settings are awesome. It is a shame that the course conditions have gone downhill so bad over the past year. I have played four other GA state park golf courses this year and this course is by far in the worst condition of all the state park courses I have played. I love the state park golf courses because they are usually in fantastic condition and are an exceptional value.
I am usually not one to be to critical of the golf courses and the conditions, but the greens and tee boxes were some of the worst I have encountered this year. On a positive, the course is in a rural area and there are not homes at all and there are lots of great views and scenery. The staff is super friendly and accommodating.
Course good. Couple greens really rough
Only guy in shop a little grumpy. Cart kid at end was fabulous Great value for the money
Disappointing for a GA State park course
Have played this course a few times previously, and was a bit disappointed in the condition. The greens are overall in rough shape, and they are getting ready to aerate them very soon. I've always enjoyed the layout here, and at the other GA State Park courses I've played, so I hope it will recover soon. On a positive note, my playing partner and I were given coupons for a substantial discount on our next round because of the greens, so that was appreciated. I will come back back later in the season.
Poor Condotion
Tee boxes and green are in very poor condition. Needs lots of work. I did not see anyone doing any grounds work to make things better even thought the pro shop attendant said they are working to improve.
Suffering from weather
Tees are torn up and hard, course is very dry with hard fairways and greens are woefully devoid of grass due to dry weather and cool night temps. Several greens are nothing but dirt and all the greens are very hard, fast and bumpy. Should improve with rain and warmer temps. Obviously not being irrigated. Other courses have similar green problems.
Horrible Greens
The course track is great and the views are wonderful. The tee boxes and fairways are very nice, but the greens are horrible. The best way to describe the putting surfaces “greens “ would be to to use an expletive word! Honestly, all 18 round patches are suppose to be green. All kind of little grass patches and clumps. There is so much traffic on the putting surfaces you think you are on I-285 on a Monday morning ( pre coved-19)....it is fruitless to try to putt. I hate I burned my Avid Golfer pass ( $20) on this course but in retrospect my buddies paid $34 (golf now). Hope the other state courses putt surface not this poor.
Decent public course that needs work
Course layout is fun and challenging. Tee boxes and greens are in awful shape. Not worth the full rate until they fix those. Otherwise, a nice public state park course. No homes. Very peaceful.
Good, but greens were awful
Pretty self-explanatory. I really enjoyed the course, but the greens were sandy and hard as a rock. I know it’s the time of year where they’re prepping for the most popular part of the season, but these were baddddd. The rest of the course was nice and a couple of wholes were unique.
