Cared for course
Welcoming friendly staff, course is peaceful oasis wide tree lined fairways ,has a cared for feel.
Greens are ready but the tees & fairways are a little bare
My foursome stayed in one of the Park cottages for the weekend. Perfect stay & play. The course plays a lot longer than the card. Very few downhill approaches. When the pin is on the right side on the par 3 3rd, the hole is a dogleg, Big Tree on Right Side. The Par 5 15th is one tough hole. Please put the fairway bunker back on 15! The fairways, tees & rough haven't grown in just yet (this was their first week with Temps above 70). The driving range could us some updating, no target greens & the range balls are old & scuffed up. Get there early & take your time. Let the staff know where you are from. If you want to make friends with the onsite staff...don't drive under the trees & fill an extra divot in the fairway. They have plenty of sand jugs for your cart.
Shot making test
Course in good shape for early spring transition. Plenty of awakening Bermuda grass to get a decent lie in the fairway. Greens good except depressions until Bermuda growing season really kicks in and they become smoother. Definitely recommend.
Needs new staff in pro shop
The course is nice and I really enjoy playing out there. The only downside is the guy who works the counter. I hope that they find a decent replacement before he runs off all the customers and the state is forced to close the doors!
nice place in every way
I've played here 15-20 times and it's always a pleasurable experience. The greens were fast but consistently so and in good shape on all 18. There were no bare fairways or chewed up tee boxes.
Despite the recent rains, the course had drained well and there was no standing water anywhere.
I always love to take visitors here to enjoy the terrain, layout, and challenges.
Time well spent!
A hidden gem between Atlanta and Athens
I grew up playing this course. Its demanding off the tee. You can't really miss a fairway. If you do, you have a challenge to get to most of the greens. Overall, I like the course and would recommend it to any golfer.
No Value Today
I learned the hard way, $40 is not a value for this course in early Feb. The guy in the Pro Shop talks to you like you have never played golf before. Had to guys playing in front of me that were hunting balls and practicing putting on every hole. They are going to need to do more than upgrade the irrigation system.
Temporary conditions, February 2018
Be aware of temporary conditions.
Course is under construction to install new irrigation system. All holes are open but with some obstruction by work crews. Clubhouse is also under construction. The improvements will be very helpful when all is finished.
Construction!!
This is normally a great course. Right now though it has several holes/areas under construction. It's important to understand that this is a "temporary" recommendation. I'm sure the work they're doing will make it even better, but right now I'd avoid it.

Played as part of "Member for a Day" outing. 2-man scramble, lunch & prizes all part of the promotion. Lunch good, pace of play good, weather almost perfect. Good day of golf at a good course. Thanks for putting on event. Always enjoy playing the course. Have played 7 of 8 State parks courses & can recommend them all
Great layout, very quiet and relaxing
Usually not very crowded.
Very relaxing and quiet golf course that is out by itself with nothing to disturb you.
Employees in Pro shop can be somewhat unfriendly and not accomadating to golfers on more than one occasion I have been there.
Looks like they could get a chainsaw and get some of the trees that came down from Irma out of the way.
Course was in pretty good shape with most rough cut way back.
Scheduling Conflict
Why on Earth would tee times be offered at 2:30 and 2:40 with a full tournament that started at 1:00 with a shotgun start? I had full grown men hitting tee shots from the ladies tees, which means they were hitting into us, celebrating by shot gunning beers. Worst experience on a golf course I've ever had.
Good track /interesting layout, greens were in good shape and rolled out well, must have had a bunch of recent rain the rough was was really bad, piles of dead grass everywhere, you could lose your ball just off the fairway............
First time playing this course
My younger sister played this course as a part of the high school golf team and my dad told me it was in much better shape then. There were a couple fairways on the back nine with some thatch. And the roughs hadn't been cut. Other than that everything was great. Course is great on the eyes a few challenging holes. Mostly short holes. Par 3's under 150 most 4's under 360
Wet
They had not cut the fairways for 8 days due to wet conditions so it was like being in the rough. Greens were in good shape and is a solid layout
A excellent course would recommend to any one that loves nature and golf to try this poace
Played Golf this weekend and had similar experience in that I had a 2.30 GolfNow tee time. Showed up a bit early but they had all kind of problems going off early. Did I mention there was no one hardly on the course. This place is mismanaged and unfriendly to their paying GolfNow customers who they apparently frown upon .Really makes me question why I drive way out there to play golf.
