South Georgia Jewel
I really enjoyed playing this course even though I made some mental mistakes. A beautiful course, Excellent conditions, Greens were in GREAT shape, friendly staff. I recommend if visiting South GA, do visit this course for a round of Golf, you will not be disappointed
a great course to play
The staff was friendly the course was in great shape but it rain the day before so some sand traps had poodles of water but except of that it was in great shape.
good value, good coarse.
staff was super friendly, a nice coarse, greens were a little bumpy. but fairways were in great shape. a very good coarse overall.
Southern Charm
Fairly wide in spots, I found bunkers more than preferred (wisely placed). Greens & Fairways in top shape -keep it inside 1st cut all the way around. Natural setting w/tall grasses & moderate rough will loose a few balls if not eagle-eyed. It had rained well overnight & bunkers had pooled water. Overall, very enjoyable, easy going course. My 2nd trip, I hope to bring golfing buddies soon. It is South Georgia -bring some bug repellant.
Worth the drive
Great layout. Back was more open than front. The fairways were in good shape but the greens were slow.
The gnats were a problem but didn't take away from the beauty.
Best value around
Have enjoyed all the Ga. State coarses but this was the best golf experience so far. The price was great and we had the place to ourselves early in the A.M. Can't wait to play it again in summer.
Haven't spent any money since started the course
It's amaIng to me that the state if Georgia will open such a great track and just let it go to seed. I don't mind natural as long as it is is just not laziness or no money. Bunkers are horrible and big piles of sand but nine in the bunkers. And the range isn't open so you can't even hit balls. C'mon man. For those if us who live in the area it is just a travesty. What a tragic waste if what was a pretty good design.
Camping
This is a great course to play and if you like to stay and play it has excellent facilities. Great camping and lodging .
Awesome course
Played here for the first time and was impressed by the design and layout of the course... nothing too tricky it was a fairly easy course from the blues but was in great shape for this time of year
Great Value
Part of state park system. Very good use of terrain, creeks & trees. Lots of false front green complexes. Could use better yardage markers. Overall a very good layout.
Play Ga Vets/Lake Blackshear if you have a chance
Staff very friendly...allowed me to go off the back since there was a cramble on the front.....smooth sailing all day. Course in wonderful shape.
Beautiful course, well maintained
Went up from Florida for a 3 day get away with 3 other guys. Had a wonderful time and would highly recommend to anyone to come and play the course and stay if you can. The course is challenging, but fair. The conditions were very good. Greens were very consistant and in great shape. Only problem was the person putting.
Great place to play.
Course was in great condition. Bermuda greens rolled great. Fairways were super. Layout is challenging from tips and moderate from blues. The place is not busy during the weekdays. We had it virtually to ourselves on a Monday July 8, 2013. Loved the place.
Very challenging, great view in southern Georgia.
This course was very nice, there are two greens that need attention along with several bunkers. However for the price i will play everyday.
GREENS IN BAD SHAPE
Greens in bad shape. Had to wait on carts that was in cart barn. Allowed 5 people to play together. Snack bar was very expensive. Bathrooms on course nasty.
1 st time here
We enjoyed this course very much for a lot of reasons but largely for the great greens. The difficulty was not real high from the white tees but we noticed that the blue tees often made it MUCH harder. All in all it is a fun course to play and well kept.
Good course layout
Course has a good layout, and condition was OK for the time of year. However, there were no bunker rakes at all. Surrounding the greens were knotty weeds, making it difficult, at times, to putt from the fringes.
This has always been a nice course, I hope they keep it maintained!
Noticed that it is no longer run by the State. It has gone done hill a little in my opinion but still a good value on hot deals! or golf now rates. If they keep the course conditions maintain it is a nice challenging course and a longer course for both Men and Ladies.
Course in good shape for winter
Cart tires were wore out and we had a flat. Need to be more attentive to this maintenance issue. Course in good shape for winter.
great layout
State pk course with great layout. Greens didn't look good but rolled fast and true. Unfortunately chging out all bunkers so couldn't play out of. Always friendly helpful staff.
