About Lake Richard B. Russell at Arrowhead Pointe State Park

Lake Richard B. Russell State Park is located east of Atlanta and northwest of Augusta in Elberton near the state border of South Carolina near the Savannah River. It is home to Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course, one of the best value courses in the southeast and a previous recipient of Golf Advisors' Golfers' Choice Top 50 lists. The state park is located on a 26,650-acre lake and home to fishing and boating. There are 20, two-bedroom cottages within the park to rent, as well as RV and campsites. In addition to the 18-hole golf course on the lake, there is disc golf, fishing, bike rental, kayak and canoe rental. The golf clubhouse has a cafe and golf shop and has a banquet room for larger groups.

Course was great. Beautiful scenery, beautiful setting. Only hiccup was there was a group of six and a group of eight playing ahead of us. Management responded quickly and addressed the issues. Cudos to them.

Fabulous fall golf

Fall golf at it finest. This course hast a great layout. The views are spectacular and it was in great shape. Only problem. They had a group of 24 not listed on tee times that showed up. A little rowdy and took all the carts. Fortunately when I got a cart, they let me go go before them. I will definitely play this course when in the area.

Outstanding!

Course is in great shape. Greens are fast and smooth and fairways and tee boxes are plush. Back 9 has some great lake views and lots of challenges. Best course I have played this year!

Carts are not allowed in parking lot, so plan on using bag drop.

If you haven’t played here then please do! The views alone are worth it. One of my favorite layouts and I’ve played all over Northeast, The Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. Conditions were very good especially the greens. True and not too fast. My only complaint is the Ranger was more interested that we entered and exited at the designated places than speeding up play which was rather slow on the back nine.
