French Lick Resort
About French Lick Resort
The French Lick Resort is one of golf’s most historic, and esteemed, resorts. It embraces the natural beauty of the Hoosier National Forest in southern Indiana. Guests will have a tough decision choosing where to stay among the 757 guest rooms and suites of The French Lick Springs Hotel (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), the West Baden Springs Hotel (a National Historic Landmark) or the newer Valley Tower (opened in 2019). There are 45 holes of golf, a Callaway Fitting Studio, two spas, a casino, horseback riding, kids’ activities and endless meeting space. The Pete Dye course, host of numerous tournaments, ranks among the most scenic and demanding courses in the country. The classic Donald Ross course provides a nice complement. Beyond the game, there’s seven dining options; an activities center with tennis, pickleball and basketball courts; a bowling alley; arcade; fitness center and outdoor/indoor pools.Facts

Great Finishing Hole Photo submitted by jess34tn on 07/29/2014
Amazing Course
What a wonderful golf course. Donny did it again. I played at Pinehurst a few years back, and saw a lot of similarities around the greens.
The greens were in great shape, and the holes offered a great challenge.
The staff is UNBELIEVABLE. They are amazing, and exemplify how every golf staff should be. Can't wait to be back.
Thanks,
NWB
Beautiful course with amazing history
I grew up in this part of Indiana, and I have played it before and after the remodel. It's always been an amazing course but after the remodel and the casino opened in the area the course gained some national recognition. For an amazing experience and walk through history check out the French Lick resort and surrounding areas! And yes these pictures are of the actual course after the remodel.
Perfect Fall Round
Played this course for the first time, and enjoyed a perfect day, other than a few poor swings. Course conditions were very good, though a little soft from recent rain. Lots of elevation changes, and uneven lies. Bermuda fairways over seeded in September had grown in nicely, leaving excellent lies on lush green grass. Great breakfast omelet before the round. Pro shop staff was friendly.
Great Course!
Challenging but fair, course was in great shape with slick greens and nice fairways. The 18th hole is the best finishing hole around. Highly recommend this course.
Worth the trip and then some
This golf course was exceptional on every level. A Dye classic that had an unbelievable look and feel. The green complexes varied with hole length with a great example being the 10th hole. A fairly short par 4 but with a tiny green that requires a precision approach or an extremely difficult up and down.
I could not more strongly recommend this golf experience, and the two days of golf at the Dye and the Ross are a must play vacation for any golf traveler.
Not to mention that the resort is fantastic and has so much character to it. Mix in some great meals, a little gambling, and maybe some spa enhancements for a vacation to remember.
Great Course -Well Worth the trip to Jasper
Great Course. Great Staff.
Par 3's had plenty of challenge and great views.
Some blind tee shots that you need to pay attention to.
When I get back in the area, I plan to play it again.
Top 5 course I have played
This course is about as good as it gets. Challenging, but fair. Love the way the ball sits up in the Zoysia fairways. Greens, rough, and sand traps all in good shape. Nice layout. Staff is friendly. Can't wait to play it again.
Beautiful Course
Its breathtaking to see the surrounding areas from atop this course. Even more amazing that Pete Dye took the challenge that many said no to. You wont regret playing this especially of you are looking to cross of "bucket list" courses.
Great Area...Great Course
Course was in excellent condition. Our foursome had a wonderful time.
Donald Ross knew what he was doing
It's amazing to think that this course was designed in an era of clubs with Hickory shafts. Expect long carries, uneven lies from the hilly terrain and challenging greens. The greens offer quite a challenge because of the slope, which is often the only way for the green to shed water after a rain. It's a fun and affordable championship golf course.
The course pictured is indeed the Donald Ross course built in 1917. It was recently restored to its original glory...but it remains an "old" golf course. There is another, fairly new course on site...the Pete Dye course. The two look distinctly different.
I believe that this course pictured here is a recently designed and constructed course. There is a Donald Ross course in French Lick that has some history to it as there are pictures of Walter Hagen playing there in the 1920s or so and can be played for $30.00 to $40.00. This course, high on the hills pictured here is not very old at all. Both courses are nice and well worth playing if you find yourself in this area.
