About Shanty Creek
The 5,000 acres of Shanty Creek Resorts are spread among three villages - Cedar River, Schuss and Summit, each with at least one golf course, restaurant and accommodations galore. The Summit is arguably home base with the Lakeview Lodge housing the Lakeview Restaurant, the spa and the Legend and Summit golf courses. Hawks Eye
Course was in good shape, everyone was friendly, polite and enthusiastic. We played it during a dry season in early August, the greens seemed a little sparse , maybe they recently aerated and sanded, my biggest concern was the rocks in the traps. Maybe I was in them a lot but the size of some of the stones was scary. Overall a good value.

Sadly, The Legend, one of the best layouts in Northern MI, is all burned out. Entire Tee boxes are cooked, parts of greens burnt, and large portions of many fairways are BROWN. Played a few other resort courses in Gaylord, and they seemed to manage to water the grass just fine. Arnie's Grill is not a grill at all, it feels like a cafeteria from high school. Not sure what's going on, but it definitely needs a lot more love.

Hawk’s Eye
Play this course a lot. We were a twosome behind 2 foursomes which held everyone up. Gets frustrating when people forget golf etiquette!

Summer outing
