Greens and fairways good condition. Cart paths a rough ride.
Troubled Fairways
Many bad spots in the fairways so if you don’t mind moving you ball a foot or so you’ll enjoy your round. Pricing reflects the condition. Lot of elevation changes.
Decent course for the money
Fairways and greens were not the best quality, but overall a fair value for the price.
Very very poor condition
Front 9 worst condition summer golf I have ever played
Summit review
Conditions are the worst I've seen out here and I've played it for years. Greens are rough in places but still roll true but definitely slower than the rest of the courses on property. It's a great and fun layout though. Could do without the foot golf holes out there but they don't really interfere. For $35 at a resort, it's worth it.
Great Up North Golf
Booked a 7 am spot for my wife and I, last minute while we were in the area. $29 for 9 holes at a very nice resort. Staff was excellent, very helpful. With no one in front we played in an 1hr 20 min which was great, the kids weren’t even awake when we returned to Grandma’s house.
Greens were fast and true, in great shape. I’m not sure if they irrigate fairways/roughs here there were some dry areas but not bothersome at all. I really enjoyed the casual feeling of the Summit, i look forward to coming back to play the Legend.
Over a one hour delay
We booked a teatime for 11 AM. We got to the course section 45 and were informed that they were running a tournament and that we would not be able to tee off until 12 to 12:30 PM. The back nine had nobody on it. We teed off with another couple on the back nine and finished in less than an hour and a half. We went to the clubhouse to make the turn, on the first hole were told and we could not get on the course from most two hours. There was approximately 10 people waiting for a tee time because of the tremendous back up from their tournaments. We have played this course many times in the past. Very poor time management by the course today.
Waste of a Pasture
Course was pretty rugged and not well maintained. Needed a lot more water. My recommendation: play another course at Shanty Creek.
Fairways in bad shape. Greens fine, old, carts. No water or cart person with drinks/snacks.
Played here for 20 years and worst I have seen fairways,, Carts tired, ours barely made it to 18. Greens in good shape. Paid $40 on GolfNow deal- that’s probably all it’s worth right now given conditions. No water cooler - doesn’t make sense.
Great up north course
I am a season pass holder and have been for the past two years. Great layout, greens are in great shape. It gets treated poorly by people who compare it to the other courses that cost 2-4 times what Summit cost to play which is not fair - you get what you pay for.
The course is closed on Wed and Thur for maintenance, which is too bad because while I like the course, it is closed 28% of the week, which just doesn't work for me anymore. The groundskeeper had some pretty strange pin locations this Fall - hole 8 the pin was put on the top of a hill on the green (see pic). A few weeks ago the pin on 16 was put on the front of the green were even if you were below the hole, you could not stop the ball unless it went in the hole.
Having said that, it is a great course for the money if it fits your schedule.
Fall golf
Played the Summit course after getting a hot deal. Word from other golfers is that other courses within the resort are better playing courses. Pace of play was extremely slow, taking more than 5 1/2 hours on late Saturday morning.

Great mature course in the Shanty Creek portfolio
Summit is a wonderful course and a great value for the money. I am a summer membership cardholder who lives here, so for $225 I can play as much as I want; cart fee is a bit pricey at $25 but I tend to walk as much as I can. I highly suggest you carry when you walk since it is quite hilly, especially on the back 9. A push cart is brutal going up and down the numerous hills. The greens are in great shape, some of the rough can get a little spotty in terms of turf but you'd have to get off-line quite a ways to find that. I hate that the course is closed on Wed and Thursday, and if that continues I will find another place to get a membership - I like to play 18 on the weekend and once in the middle of the week - the new closure days and not good for me.
Summit = Very average up north course, fair condition
Played here before, so knew what to expect. Okay course to get a quick round in, but very average for the Bellaire area. Shanty Creek Resort is obviously not making this golf course a priority, as the fairways are very spotty and in need of some TLC, and the rough is overgrown or hard pan for the most part. Greens are in decent shape and well kept. For $25 for 9 holes, you get what you pay for here.

Good value for the money. Not going to wow you with amazing views and conditions you may get at other courses in the area but it’s a great price for what you get
