This course has bad
course is bad condition. It is too expensive when compared.
Disappointed in the quality of the fairways, but otherwise liked the course
I played on Sept 24. The Lakes Course was closed, so no opportunity to book it. First five holes or so had much more bare ground than grass on the fairways. I played the course as if we were playing with winter rules and moved our ball to a piece of grass rather than play off dirt. The Greens played very slow. They were consistent and in good shape, just slow. Tee boxes were in great shape, but they had taken the normal white tee boxes out of play and moved them to the ladies tees. So the course played much shorter than normal. They were actively watering the back nine fairways, so there was little roll and most times your ball had picked up globs of mud. There were no ball washing facilities at any of the holes. We rented clubs and they were a full set of Callaway X2 Hot with an Odyssey Blade putter, for $55 Dollars. Good quality clubs at a good price.. Sand traps had a fair bit of rocks in the sand. They need to sieve the sand. The sand was loose enough to get your club through the sand and under your ball, but if they had been my clubs, I would have been worried about marking them due to the rocks in the bunkers. We ate breakfast and lunch there. Food was good, reasonable priced and the server was very friendly.
This course need some mowing.
Seems like they have neglected this course. It will be awhile before it gets back to its original form.
course in good condition after reseeding.
course as usual in good condition. fairways and greens in transition from reseeding.
Gem in the valley
Great course on the NV / Cal boarder about an hour outside of LV. Course was in great condition because they have their own well. Played the lakes course. Lots of waterbut really only comes in to play on 5 or 6 holes. Greens are good but slower than I'm used to. Most of the greens are well protected by bunkers.
Great layout
My wife and I played the course and were very happy with the overall experience. We play a lot of golf and travel all over. The staff was great, the course was fun. I would recommend this course. We played it 2 different days and had a great time both days.
Great Value
Had 1pm tee time for $29 and started early to boot! Took about 4 hrs which is a little long given the location in the middle of nowhere BUT the desert course was overseeding so all the pressure was on one course otherwise, I usually play the desert course in about 3 hours or less as a single. :-) Course in great condition again considering $29 and you are in Nipton California!!! LOL
Horrible Bunker Conditions
The bunkers were awful. Would it really be a problem to either put some sand in them or at least groom the sand that is in there? Loosening the sand so the club can get under the ball would go a long way to improving our experience.
Rushed
Tee time at 3 pm. Told to be off course by 6 pm. This rushed me. I usually love this course. Let's hope it's not going downhill.
Must play
Great course next time I visit Las Vegas I would go play both courses
Former Hidden Gem now a Goat Ranch
The Lakes was a very good golf course a few years ago but it has really taken a turn for the worse.
Fazio design is good, greens are OK but everything else is a train wreck. From the bag drop to the clubhouse to the carts, it's a mess. All grasses other than the greens are poor. Staff is unhelpful, uninterested or clueless.
Stay away until management decides to take an interest in the quality of product.
Excellent
Great course, friendly staff, fast greens, fairways in good condition
Finished just in time. Monsoon hit on way to the car.
Very nice greens. Monsoon hit just as we finished. Lots of sand traps
Enjoyable course. Used most of the clubs in my bag hitting rom the blue tees.
For the money, I would drive from Vegas and play it again on my next trip. Bunkers are tough without much sand.
Great condition
Looked great, greens were rolling great and true. Just wish it wasn't 45 mins away
Perfect August weather
We teed off at 7:30 on the Lakes course and finished at 10:10. The weather was overcast and a cool 80 degrees. The course was in excellent condition for summer golf. At first, the greens were slow because of the dew, but as they dried, they quickened a bit. I'd say a 9 on the stimpmeter. The course played fair and the fairways were 90% playable. Some dead spots but it is summer. The bunkers were ok. I had an old wedge that I wasn't worried about ruining. Sand is very course and some there were some thin lies.
The only negative we're the mosquitos. They attacked me pretty good. Sprayed some sun tan lotion and that seemed to work. You don't need the deet.
Fun course with 4 tee choices. The other eighteen (Desert corse) was closed.
Wow
Soooo nice, greens smooth, and tee boxes well tended. Wide open, I guess the summer in Vegas scared them all off.
This is a Fun course to play
This is the 2nd time We've Played this course. and have enjoyed it both times. we will for sure go back often. No Houses and wide fairways. great course for every level.
Very nice course
Course was in good condition. Very pretty course. It was empty this time a year. We actually played 36 holes. Had a great time with no one around.
Poor front desk
Great course but don't try to reschedule they will charge you an additional fee for cancellation. I change my tee time fro 7:30 am to 8:00 am and they charged me $10. Did not work with me
