Great round of golf
The course was challenging and very well maintained. I would highly recommend this course to my friends
Great Course
I have played Wild Turkey many times. We played from the white tees, about 5900 yards. White tees are great for high handicappers like me and the blue tees are challenging for better golfers. Course is very fair with some wide fairways. Most holes have greenside bunkers but if you are accurate, you can avoid the sand. Greens were smooth and fast but not extremely fast. Downhill putts were tricky.
Awesome time at the SC sheriffs outing!
Although some holes are cart path only, we had another great time at the bb golf course. The greens are in great condition and the fairways were maintained. They got rid of the orange carts and spent some money on the ezgoes! They even have a USB port. Staff was friendly and everyone was more then helpful. Even the rangers were friendly and helped us watch where some of our shots went. Kudos to the CS team!
Solid challenging track, moderately narrow fairways
Always nice playing a course operated by Crystal Springs. Consistent great course conditions under their operation. Staff was friendly and helpful. Tee times were spread wisely and rangers actually come around to enforce pace of play. Tee boxes and fairways were lush and greens at almost full recovery from aeration almost two weeks prior. Not a very long course but narrow fairways and many elevation changes will challenge ball striking in accuracy and distance control. Despite my threesome got stuck playing behind a foursome, our round was 3 hours and 50 minutes. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Over the top ranger
Great course ... front desk staff were super friendly and accommodating... however the ranger was super over the top on going purely off the sheet of paper time range as to where you should be at what time and what hole ... not taking into account that the group behind us were a group of ladies teeing it up from the ladies tees so they are always going to be up on his at any point especially on the par 3s. Love the course but the rangers need to evaluate the realtime pace of play and less on what a sheet is telling them. Took us about 4hrs and 20mins.
Cascades play
The greens on all the holes were impossible to navigate due to all the sand used to dry them. Otherwise, it was OK.
For the Money
Arrated greens are to be expected but every sand trap( there are plenty) was a mud trap. Great track but for $120 the bunkers should have sand
There's a difference between challenging and unfair
I've played all the courses at crystal springs resort. Unless you're playing ballyowen you're really not getting anything too special. Back to Crystal; the course has tight winding fairways. This is fine except mounds and patches of rough randomly protrude out. Good shot, especially off the tee, can be penalized unjustly. There's barely any grass on the fairways, so wet conditions turn into a mud ball fiesta. The greens are well kept but can get slow and sometimes inconsistent. The thing that bothers me most is the teeboxes. I've played the white and the blue tees and consistently had an awkward lopsided stance with the ball well above my feet..and I'm not being picky I'm talking about the entire box. The traps flood easily so playing there after a previous night downpour is a mistake. Lastly, if you play on a weekend you're garunteed a steady slow round. The 10 minute ride between holes is actually a blessing in disguise or else you'd more easily realize you're waiting 15 minutes on most boxes.
It still has the scenic par 3s, and the allure of being the most challenging public course in NJ. If you're a glutton for punishment, a skilled player, and playing on a sunny weekday than Crystal is an option. Really one of those 'play it to say you played it' courses. Cough up the extra $30 and go over to Ballyowen..you won't be dissapointed.
Again
This is the third time I got to the course and the tee time was pm instead of am and I am positive I made an am tee time so I didn't get to play the course or that day for that matter 7 am is hard to find a nearby tee time. So now golf now let me down 3 times
Best course around
You're not going to find a more well maintained, beautiful course! A fun and challenging course. Doesn't get better than that!
Excellent layout, will play again.
Wild Turkey is a hidden gem. It doesn't get the accolades of Ballyowen, but it should. Every hole is interesting, no gimmicks. The rangers kept up the pace of play, greens were good (a litttle slow due to rain), the fairways could be cut shorter. I would give this an 8 of 10 for a solid, fun public course in a beautiful setting.
Great course to spend sunday.
I was there on the weekend with my family. Had great time.
Fantastic
One of the best courses in New Jersey, easily. This course is a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a challenge.
You better be a good golfer
The course layout is not for an average golfer. There are mobile's and narrow fairways and some carries that a lot of golfers will not like. This is a resort course and a lot of players are not good and slow down the pace of play and not have a clue what they are doing. I do not recommend this course for that reason unless you wanted to fight a six hour round I get frustrated !
