Great day
Played sea oaks at a great price , we had a beautiful fall morning , course was in great shape despite recent aeration, ! A true gem.
Aration of greens
The greens were in poor shape because if annual maintenance. some one needs to inform you so you can make a decision whether you want to put up with the conditions. The course, otherwise, is my favorite.
Fun course
Played here many times, good condition and a nice course. Can get a little slow on weekends, but mid week, no problem.
Fun and fair course
In very good conbition for a public course. Very fun and fair layout. I love this course.
ray
This is an excellent course in very good condition.
Not to difficult but also not easy if your not hitting well
Best Course Near LBI
Sea Oaks is certainly the best course within reasonable driving distance to LBI. 6 tee sets ( 4 men and 2 women) set the course up for an enjoyable round for multiple skill levels and ages. Late afternoon rates are reasonable , although full boat prime time morning rates are a bit stiff. I tend to play after 3 or 4 in the afternoon since I am usually bringing my daughter and /or one or more of my nephews. We have usually gotten around without jam ups at a decent pace. The starters will sometimes steer you around slow groups when possible. There is a driving range.
This is a really fun layout, but
I've played it twice. I really enjoy the links-like features employed in the design: waste areas with long grass around them, shaved banks around greens, etc. Greens were in very nice shape. The staff were very nice and friendly.
I've got 2 points of contention. I don't use a GPS when I play and my experience was the poorer for it. The course is not marked very well and so you're left measuring from the 100/150/200 markers , which only exist on one side of the hole. A GPS would also assist with the distances to the various hazards that exist in the middle of the fairways.
The second issue is pace of play. During my first round (1 week earlier) the back 9 took 2 hours, 25 mins. During this latest round the back 9 took 2 HOURS, 45 MINS and I didn't play the last 3 holes due to back issues. Not a ranger in sight. This is "outing slow". Unfortunately as much as I enjoy the course, this is a dealbreaker for me. I won't be back.
If you'd like to try a course with a different layout than the usual fare and want to roll the dice on pace of play, Sea Oaks is absolutely worth a try.
Great day of golf at the always pleasant Sea Oaks !
Course is well manicured and easy to navigate . The people at Sea Oaks are friendly and helpful . We've had lots of rain lately, so yesterday's course movement was restricted to cart path only . That was not a problem for us . We got a good deal for a tee time that worked for us through Golf Now .
ease of access to the greens
It was 90 degree and you had to walk quite a bit
Carts on path far from the green.
Good time at Sea Oaks
Always enjoy a round at this course. Well run with a great staff. Course is challenging with excellent facilities and in very good condition. Greens still need a few warm days to get back to top shape, but recommend highly.
