Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Unbelievable
Q to rail . What a perfect day for golf and the course was just spectacular!
challenging layout
Challenging layout - Quarry seemed harder than Rail but blind shots lead to many lost balls. Local knowledge here would help.
Ok course. 2 hours non weather delay
Tee time was 11:40. Finally teed off around 1:30. No weather issues just poor planning on the course. They did give a free range bucket of maybe 30-35 balls but not neatly enough for a 2 hour delay. Should have been fully refunded or a free round offer anything less is insulting at a 2 hour delay. Basically all they did was apologize and tell us to wait longer.
Course itself isn’t in bad shape but far from good. Tee boxes are horrendous not level at all. The golf carts breaks had issues and on this course that is a big deal. Be careful driving carts use a lot of caution the cart path has potholes bumps and is in terrible shape.
Overall it’s not bad but for the price we paid there is far better out there to play. Combined with the terrible delay and no effort to make up the delay not sure I could recommend this course to anyone at the moment.
$10.20 Cart Fee Charge by Golf Now?
What's up with Golf now adding a $10.20 cart fee?
If I booked directly with the golf course they do not charge a cart fee.
Golf Now? What a rip off !
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Nice layout but tough
Nice day, pace of play was under 4 hours. Had a great time played with my son and Brian who we have played with before
Excellent Value
Booked on GolfNow for $35 with cart included. Cant say enough about what a great value this course was!
poor organization
tee times were double booked, cart shortage led to delayed start.
the quarry course fairway was very bumpy, kept jumping off my seat and hit my head in the cart ceiling numerous times.
Hi, thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course!
Overall the course was in great condition. However, pace of play was unbelievably slow, and didn't see a ranger once while we were on the course. Waited about 5 minutes before almost every shot, and played a 5+ hour round. When we got to the 10th hole, there were 5 groups on the hole. Pace of play needs to be better here, please stop cramming tee times so close together.
Hello and thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
$90 for 5+ hr round
For a 5 hour round, I'd rather pay $50 on a public course. Not sure if this was GG's fault or Golfnow's, but they should give us a partial refund. Also, fix the chewed up tee boxes. Not worth $90.
Thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied during your round. We pride ourselves on our providing great service and the high-quality standards we maintain. We would like to make things right. Please reach out to our management team at the pro shop. A sad trip down memory lane
I had played this course as a kid with my father about 25 years ago. It was a real treat back then. A great layout for all 3 of the 9’s with a great mix of challenging and getable holes. Conditions used to be awesome..
Fast forward to Father’s Day 2022 and our group wasn’t able to complete our round because of a completely unattended to pace of play. We played 11 holes in 3.5 hours. The entire time we never saw a single ranger.
Condition wise, the greens were actually great. Firm and fast. Tee boxes are generally not level, riddled with divots, and not well mowed. Rough is what you would expect at a mid or low level municipal course. Cart paths rival a back breaking off-road adventure.
Sadly, the experience was so disappointing that I’ll be certain to not go back. It confirmed that paying the premium for a course like Wild Turkey really is worth the extra money.
I had really hoped for an enjoyable trip down memory lane and left with nothing short of total disappointment.

Great courses (Rail/Quarry)
Great condition, nice carts, friendly starter and restaurant staff. Nice balcony at Hef’s Hut with a good view of the valley. Not a fan of one of the Par 3s on Rail. The green is on a crazy angle. Makes for impossible putting (for me). Other than that, exceptional, fun and fast playing.
Good course for the money with a more than excellent staff. Quarry 8 and Rail 9 fairways still in n need of repair
Fix the cart paths and roads playing on the quarry course. Otherwise nice courses.
DO NOT HAVE OUTINGS HERE!!!!!!!!
General manager at this place is way over his head. He never returns phone calls or emails. Once I got him on the phone we spoke about having an outing and I gave him the date which he never wrote down so the end result was he booked another outing on that date which totally screwed me up. I asked if I could speak with his superior and I was told no there is nobody that you can talk to. This GM needs to be held accountable for his screwup's. Very nice golf course but don't have an outing there unless you want to get disappointed

Do not book outings !!!
The GM does not get back to you. Seems like he's over his head with his job. After agreeing on a date he then booked another outing the same day. After sending numerous emails and phone calls that where not returned I requested to speak to his direct boss and they would not give me a contact phone or email. Great corse but the GM is way over his head.
