Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Course conditions
Problem with the conditions of the course. Course was very wet when we got there they told us it was cartpath only. It should be posted when it’s cart paths only a little more difficult for seniors to walk
Great Gorge
For courses in Nj GG is by far the best value for your buck. All 3 layouts are challenging and the views are spectacular in the fall when leaves are turning. My only 2 negatives are… They need to repair cart paths on many holes and they are rate was changed to 65.
Nice Course. Great shape.
I just played this course in the middle of December, so first of all have to thank them for being open! It was great to get out this time of year! Firstly, you have to drive up and drop off your bag and then drive back about say 300 yards away to the parking area. So that's a bit of a pain. But the people and the course are fantastic. The greens were in great shape along with the t's and the fairways even for a summer day much less winter. The only thing that was kind of depressing other than the parking was the Playboy Resort looming over the course obviously filled with mold and decay.... So if you want to feel like you're out in the middle of the country with just you and the trees and the birds, you might want to go somewhere else. But like I said it's a nice course designed by Fazio in great shape with friendly people inside and outside.
Lighting quick greens
Course was in awesome shape for September let alone early December. Greens were perfect and so quick
Great Course
I would recommend Great Gorge to any golfer. The course is always in wonderful shape. Greens are especially nice. Quick, but fair.
Would play here anytime of year.
Great course with really interesting design features!
What a cool course! It runs around the old Playboy Club which is now abandoned, but always looms in the background as it is a gigantic building. I played the Quarry and Rail courses which both had some really unique features. Quarry takes you through a little canyon and has some really interesting hole designs. Rail has a good amount of elevation changes that keep things interesting. Greens were running quick for late Fall. It was wet in some spots but it had also rained a couple days ago, so it was somewhat expected. Considering the cost, I would recommend playing this over Wild Turkey (which I also played) at nearby Crystal Springs Resort.
Wet
Staff esp employee at pro shop very unprofessional and disrespectful. Course wet, cart path only, esp no.8 at Quarry all under water as much of the bunkers. management and maintenance seems to get worse every year since it’s reopening a few years ago.
Nice fall golf with fast green
The green is the fastest I ever play on this course. With the slope and the course layout, it makes the course challenged.
Great Course with views
Course was excellent but a bit of a struggle with all the rain. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Most bunkers were quality. PLays long but the scenic views and rock outcroppings are spectacular. I will be back to play again. Emil and the folks there were very nice and he was knowledgeable about all the interesting aspects of the course. Look out for the giant carp in the pond on the Quarry course 4 ft. minimum on their size! Only downside was the condition of the cart paths which they are planning on redoing. Food was best on course for any course I have played. Looking forward to returning.
Tough and long
Beautiful course, tough tough greens with no flatness, all pitchin away from pin. Fairway and greens were immaculate. PLayed the Rail and Quarry course. I will play this again. Only complaint is the cart paths are beat up but they are planning on resurfacing in the near future.
