Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Get the Tree Monkeys off the course!
Been playing here for 35+ years.
Never have I had to chase Tree Monkeys off a green.
After hitting my my ball a few yards short on the 3rd hole on Quarry a gang of Tree Monkeys ran up to the green and made off with my ball. I had to jump in my cart and chase after them to get my ball back.
Yeah, having a Treescape Aerial Adventure Park located between the 3rd and 4th hole is not ideal. And, having Tree Monkeys walking on the cart paths when your trying to hit your ball is not fun either. But, having a bunch of untrained staff who are clueless to the issue, or worse yet a golf course owner who could care less, well that's the pits.
For now on I won't be golfing at Great Gorge on weekends.
I'm only giving the course play a single star this time. Seriously, someone is gonna get hurt playing around the 3rd hole on Quarry with its monkey business.
Greens fast and consistent
Fairways in great shape should have called a ranger the people in front of us if they moved any slower they would have been going backwards
Hot summer afternoon with good pace of play
The course condition is great. Putting is tricky! However, you should not miss the fun course.
Happy this course survived!
Have to get here more often. Course conditions were great.....bunkers were in good condition and consistant which i think a few reviews has knocked. Only complaint was not of the golf course but the foursome in front of us played little slow but still finished in 4 1/2 hours. Some spectacular views and very reasonable pricing will get me back a few more times this year.
Well done Great Gorge owners and staff!
Great Course ForThe Price
This is a hidden away place. Tee boxes need some work but all in all for the price you should try this course.
Hi, thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course!
Packed but nice course
Great course staff was nice. I went on a Friday and there was 100 people playing. It was nice there are 3 9s so they could spread out everyone. Me and the guys that I played with are fast players so by the 7th hole we caught up to the people in front of us and than it was backed up from there. There were people on the green, another 4 some in the fairway and another about to tee off. If you go at the right time it is an enjoyable time. Great restaurant and bar at the club house with a deck looking out to the first hole and 9th. I would recommend checking out this course.
We appreciate the review. You rated us 3-stars which means there is room to improve on your recent experience at Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course. Let us know, in the comments, how and where you would like to see changes from the course. Thanks for the feedback!
Umm, what is a “tree monkey”???
