Why haven’t I played here before?
Had an early morning tee time as a single , third off behind two twosomes. Pace of play was great. Done in Less than 3 hours. Course in great shape. Greens holding and putting true. Couldn’t ask for anything better.
Disappointing
Bunkers and greens were in good shape. Fairways and tee boxes were not and looked like a municipal course. Not worth the $65 green fee. Shocking how much the course has detierotated since I last played it a couple years back.
Great course...but not worth the price
Great layout. Definetely play the East course if you're wondering between East or West. Beautiful scenery. Challenging mounds and green undulations prevent you from scoring well. Greens are immaculate shape. Cart path and cart ride are top notch. Staff is best I've encountered in years.
Fairways...atrocious. They're trying...sod everywhere...but absolutely horrible "fairways". Hitting from hard pan dirt nearly every shot.
Worth playing just for scenery...absolutely not worth the "hot deal" of $60. This is a $40 course at current conditions. Don't pay this high price until the get the fairways back to what it was years ago.
Nice layout.
Good mix of challenging and easier holes. Conditions were good, but in 2 more weeks fairways will have fully grown in. If playing the West, make sure to practice putting by the first tee since that is bent grass like the course. The practice green by the range is Bermuda. Only complaint is the lack of water coolers on the course.
Great course, even better when the fairways are on form
Very nice course, well organized and easy to navigate for a first timer. Fairways were still coming in, and a little rough approaching a few greens, but overall I would recommend this course.
Wonderful
The conditions were spring-like. The fairways are a bit patchy but will b3 great once they grow in. The greens were smooth and fairly fast. It is a spectacular layout with a huge variety of looks. We loved it.
Not what I signed up for.
When leaving the golf shop, I was directed to the West course. Not being familiar with either course it wasn’t until I checked my reservation I realized I booked the East course. Once I began to turn the cart around the starter then told us the East course was closed. Playing the West course vs driving an hour home my decision was obvious. Being that one course was closed all tee times were backed up and to top it off the mid way house was closed and zero water or beverage cart on course.
Don’t play after it rains.
Good course, fun layout. It had just rained the night before so my feet and pants were soaked on the first hole. Great amenities and overall facilities, the course just does not drain well.
Great greens, fun layout
Greens were hard and perfect to roll on. I know it’s been a very wet early season and there was some rain Friday evening but the course was very wet. I’m from out of town playing with a local and he said he was surprised it was that wet. Still, course was in good condition and like I said, greens were awesome.
Great find in Greensboro
This course is beautiful. It was January so the grass was brown but that is to be expected. The layout was amazing. The greens ran true. I always play Bryan Park when I am in town, however this might be my go to from now on. I know some people complain about the price however I think it was well worth it.
Great Course
A co-worker and I played this course while passing through town. We’re already making excuses to get back. I took off a star for course conditions, because it was cart path only (which made for one heck of a workout). Clearly this is no fault of theirs, and it’s still just a bit too wet from the onslaught of rain all over the country. I cannot wait to play this course at its best!
Also, regarding pace, we literally had the entire course to ourselves. It was a little chilly, but there was literally one other foursome on the course, and we never saw them.
The staff was great, and the amenities were fantastic. Great clubhouse. Excellent snack bar at the turn around. Super friendly, and inviting...
Will definitely play again.
It’s a nice course
Grandover West is a nice course. It is a thoughtful design, and the course is in good but not excellent condition. Some sand traps are full of pebbles with little sand, and the greens are somewhat choppy, which in my experience is due to the fact that public golf courses with bent grass greens get beat up pretty badly. That said, be careful which practice green you warm up on. I spent fifteen minutes putting on the very nice and fast Bermuda practice green, only to realize the greens on the West course are slow and Bent. Big mistake. Grandover West is a solid 4+, but depending on the price, I could typically play a lot of other 4+ courses for less.
Everything went very smoothly ! Good staff ! Excellent facilities! Very good course ! Thanks to Golf Now excellent price !
