Prices gone wild !
I was afraid this would happen when Wyndham took over Grandover Resort! $100+ for a round of afternoon golf on a slow weekday! Like the Courses here but we’re done with Grandover. Sad
Green Fees Gone Wild !
Have played here regularly for many years. Love the place in fact. One of the primary reason I do is because its rarely ever busy/crowded during the week. HOWEVER, for some non-logical reason Grandover has implemented a varying Green Fee process that creates numerous different rate$ from hour to hour.. with the bulk of this greatly increasing prices, even on a slow weekday. In the past couple weeks I have seen rates of nearly $110 for slow afternoon tee times where the course was wide-open. You would think a low play course would decrease rates, not raise them!
I certainly hope the public understands they can change this policy simply by voicing thier opinions.
and by playing golf elsewhere until Grandover comes to its senses!
Was an okay course
For the money I was paying and the pictures I had seen online I was expecting a golf course in pristine condition but it wasn't but it honestly was still in good condition overall. If you are expecting the course a really nice course then its not that but it's still a fun course to play. There was some trouble spots on the course. Although they only charge $5 for range balls, they certainly weren't the best ones but I have seen worse. I'm also use to courses not charging for range balls when the price is over $100. Even though things weren't up to par, I would honestly still recommend this course to anyone looking to play a challenging course.
Much improved
My appreciation to the improvements recently made here in June & early July. Pretty amazing how fast they repaired, or resoded, the numerous areas of the course that needed it! Also the newish greens on the west have finally started to be consistent and have thicker grass.
Its an enormous amount of work to maintain 2 golfs courses, a Driving range and an 2 practice putting greens. And recently I’ve noted a decline in how all this is maintained. The Cups on the East, and on the practice greens appeared to not have been recut/moved in at least 10 days as many were worn badly.. (but hey, if they wanta increase the hole size and make putting easier by doing this, I guess one should not complain). The traps on the course were rough, and horrible on the east course, but this is somewhat understandable give the amount of rain in June & July.
always enjoy west course
had been a few years since I played Grander West, Fairways and greens in pretty good shape. They have made major changes to several of the greens. Some have had almost too much undulation added.
Great Time
Nice course, several spots with ground under repair at the moment. Greens had been recently sanded but were still pretty good. Rates aeemed to be discounted, it was a little cheaper than it has been in the past. I assume they factored in the greens and ground repair. I’d happily play it again tomorrow especially at the rate they charged
I really like the driving range, lots of targets and its setup nicely to dial your clubs in before you start.
The grill at the clubhouse is great and although we didn’t stop the grill located at 10 is a nice touch.
Besides being hottt 🥵. Had a great time
What happened to the Grandover Resort?
I’ve played both the East and West courses at the Grandover so when I was in town with some friends I was excited to take them there and get a round in.
When we arrived the staff let us know that the greens have been aerated about 10 days prior but over sanded punched greens were the least of the problems. The course was totally over saturated with the fairways covered with ruts from carts spinning their tires due to standing water. Not to mention on the very fairway and most green surrounds large swaths of sod trying to hide bare spots which were everywhere on the front and back. This was the worst conditioned course I have played in several years and I play a lot of golf. It he bottom line is Grandover…..do better, Until then, save your money and go elsewhere. The West course was an embarrassment and a ripoff.
West Course
This is hands down my favorite course to play in the Triad area.
Always a great course and in good shape.
West course playing 9 holes is deceiving as it is not an 'out and back'
So if trying to do a quick 9 beware it takes a good 10 min cart ride to get back to clubhouse
Expensive Round for Cheap Conditions
This course was unbelievably poorly maintained for the cost of the round. I’ve played municipal courses kept in better condition. The tee boxes were not level and were mostly sand and chewed up grass, the fairways were full of weeds and ant hills, bunkers were full of rocks and pebbles, and the greens were inconsistent and overgrown. The pace of play was phenomenal, possibly because everyone else already knew not to play this course. The facility should be ashamed of charging their patrons the price for an above-average golf course and delivering a product that is barely comparable to a local pitch and putt. I will not return to this course.
it has the resort vibes youd expect the course is well taken care of, staff very friendly even offered to let me play more holes to make up for slow pace of play which was not their fault ranger i spoke to was very friendly, greens rolled nice and were a bit firm from the recent colder months only downside was west cafe house was closed and they had no cart girl either but the course was good no complaints
yet they recently raised their prices! even when slow.
Most sensible people would call ahead to check stuff out.. especially when spending above $60.00
