course not being maintained
The East course is a wonderful layout, challenging golf course which rewards shot accuracy. The greens are large, undulating and equally challenging. However, the course is not being well maintained. Bunkers were flooded from rainfall 48 hours earlier. Bermuda greens appeared to not having been mowed in the prior 36 hours. While I technically had a golf cart; the entire course was cart path only, so my threesome walked quite a bit, which should have been disclosed when booking. The facility/resort is beautiful, wonderful food at the cafe next to the pro shop. Would not return unless and until the course is better maintained. Also no senior tees.
First time playing grandover but not the last. Everything about the course was excellent, from the tee box thru the fairways to the greens. Very nice.
Worth the price of admission
Great course with a challenging layout. Well maintained with an excellent staff. Pricey but actually worth it so I guess that makes it a great value 😁. I'll be back...played the east course. Want to see how the west course plays. Thanks for a great experience Grandover.
Need to Marshall the course
We had a twosome playing in front of us that knew nothing of golf etiquette. Wearing basketball shorts and a tshirt playing all over the course. At the turnaround we continued - they stopped. On the 12 they drive around us while on the green and goes to 13 box. Needless to say we waited more. Would hit several balls and leave some behind. No worries they were range balls. Made the day longer than need to be. Where was the Marshall. You pay that much money, there should be someone watching and regulating play. Thought I was on a cheap public course. Beautiful course but will never spend the money to play again.
If you are on time you are late! And don’t mess up, they are watching!
Going to the course excited… club house great!!! Staff in the pro shop 5 of 5.
Then the course cart and tee time - staff ‘guy’ pushy and the rude!!
Situation:
I hit a few shots at the range, some good some bad - first shots of the day… as us normal golfers now, need to get lose!
We where hustled to get to the tee box ‘10 min’ early and then the staffer had the nerve to ask me weather I played golf because of the warm up on the range.. I was just like ‘what are you talking about’ and we exchanged a few words..
Just what you want to hear heading into a round of golf that you just paid $90 for! How rude!!!
Me and my partner tee’d off - all while he waited and watched us tee off..
Then he had the nerve to say how we should play and how we should play best ball ‘not because of me tee shoot now’ but my partners tee shot and I lost it. Asked him to leave us alone and mind his own business. I couldn’t believe it… it messed up our first few holes! Played all over in some really 5 star courses (example: Monarch in Cali, TPC Sawgrass in FL) and never would have thought that a local Greensboro course would be so rude!
Amazing
Conditions were just amazing. Most perfect conditions I played this year. High end place.
Great staff and great course
I’ve played Grandover several times over the years. The staff is just top notch in every way. The courses just keep getting better as well. It’s a well managed operation from top to bottom.
Punched greens and slow play
Need to move folks along better. Too slow. Also, greens fees should have been reduced due to greens not fully recovered from being punch. Did not know about the greens before playing. Bad form.
Clever Design
We liked the course. Plenty of clever obstacles without being obnoxious. Long course. Hilly. We had a great time though not scratch golfers.
Great escape
Enjoyed the hospitality from before the first tee to the 19th hole. Great staff.
Great Course
The course was in good shape and well maintained. All employees were super nice and helpful. Only complaint was I didn't see a cart person with drinks/snacks the entire day. Which I thought was odd, but maybe they don't offer that. Very challenging course...definitely not for beginners or high handicappers.
