Greens were super firm
Course conditions were good considering the amount of rain we had received lately. We were the only ones on the course due to our tee time being 3:45 on an overcast day so pace of play was excellent 😂 . Pro shop was great with excellent employees. Some of the bunkers were flooded but it had rained recently. Course drained well and we were able to drive all over the course instead of being cart path only.
I would definitely play again.
Nice course
Green is little hard. It is hard to hit solid from rough
Pro layout
I had a great round although the greens were still healing from aeration
Post-Renovation
Played here few times but not since the renovations especially the greens. Super fast but very fun and challenging. I would recommend playing both courses and seeing the differences for yourself
The Staff
The staff were phenomenal friendly and very helpful, the cafe food and drinks were great , really enjoyed my happy Gilmore drink. I will definitely come back and play and bring friends with me.
Too new greens
Enjoyable day on a well groomed course. The only issue was the greens. They are new this year. While they did roll very well, almost every well hit approach shot rolled off the back because they were so firm.
Ruined
Always loved the West course at Grandover… that is until they screwed it up in 2024. Highly disappointed with the redo, and conversion of the greens! Despite being closed for 4 months the new greens were , well, not very good! I’ve played on some lower budget courses that were only closed for 3 months for conversion and their converted grasses were far far superior to this 4 month conversion. Several greens had bare spots, and the 3rd or 4th ? green was basically sand with little grass. Additionally numerous green-sides now have soft mud wetspots that were not their prior… not sure what thats all about! I certainly expected better being that Grandover has always been top-notch!
Additionally, being without traffic all summer, as expected the fairways were good, but roughs are so long & spongy that its VERY hard to locate your ball even if only a couple feet off the fairway. And the mixture of various grass types around many greens was frustrating. 1 hole your chipping from bent or bermuda, the next hole your chipping from thick bladed grass.
Greens were very very hard as well and held very few approaches!
needed water
As hot as it was I really thought it would have been appropriate to have a few water stations available especially for the price. Also you used to have towels and tees in carts and they were fun and that has changed also. I get expenses but i thought it was always a clever way to show value and to those that have never played before had a something t take home and remember the course. I obviously did
your cart had ice & 2 bottles of water. plus there is a water fountain on both courses as well as restroom facilities!
Worth Every Penny
Everything from the range to the new carts to the perfect greens and manicured fairways - this is just the perfect place to take a day off and play 18! It was in the high 90s but the course looked great and we had such a great day.
$90 course should have quality SAND, not grey rock filled grit in the bunkers!
Amazing Birthday Round for my Dad
Had a great time playing this course with my dad for his birthday gift this year. Incredible course conditions and great customer service! Not a round I can always afford but very worth it for special occasions or for anyone who’s able to spend more on golf then I am.
Great layout-decent shape
Played the West Course last year when I was in the area and really enjoyed it. This year I played the East course. I really enjoyed the layout. It is challenging and fun without being overly hard or penal. The course is really dry and in decent shape. The greens were very firm and fast, and pretty smooth. All in all it was a fun round, however, at $82 I felt it was slightly over priced. But if you've got the money to splurge, give it a try.
Great NC GOLF
Beats Pinehurst any day. Oh yeah, you heard me!!
And you know I’m right. Yep….
The course was in great shape!
We played the East course! Although the greens were sanded, putts rolled true.
Nice Track
Grandover is a nice place to play. Staff is fantastic and very friendly and inviting (unlike some other resort locations I have been to). The layout is very nice and the course is challenging, but fair. The $100 price tag is hard to swallow as a “local”, but on a given occasion this is a great place to play.
Great Experience
Beautiful course that was very challenging. Well worth your time to play a round here.
Resort Quality Golf
I Played the East course in 1996 then quit golf for the next 27 years. I started back in November and had the pleasure to play Grandover again yesterday.
This is resort quality golf without the resort prices. Everything and everyone associated with the club are outstanding. The course was immaculate, pro shop was fantastic and the carts were perfect. I cannot say anything bad or negative about this experience. If ever in Greensboro, NC, you must give this place a try.
Pretty good
Only complaint was the price which seems a little high for the afternoon on a weekday. Overall course and carts were in good shape. Price included range balls. We pretty much had the course open to ourselves on the front nine but got stacked due to one group up on the back nine with no staff in sight.
range balls are no longer included! +$15
Challenging track
Just don’t use the in cart food ordering system, The order does not make it to the restaurant. Had to wait around for them to prepare our food. We ordered 15 minutes prior to getting there starting the ninth hole. Otherwise, had a great time!
the greens here have improved greatly.. but still very firm (a common trait of this new Bermuda grass)
correction: it was hole #4 that had the bad sand green.
