Manor House at Tanglewood Park
About Manor House at Tanglewood Park
The Manor House Bed and Breakfast isn't your typical golf hotel or resort, but its location inside the 1,100-acre Tanglewood Park does have its advantages. It's within a mile of Tanglewood Park's 45 holes of golf, including the Championship Course, host of the 1974 PGA Championship won by Lee Trevino. The Victorian era manor dating to 1859 has been completely restored. All the rooms include their own private baths and period furniture and decor. Golfers can also stay at the cottage, guesthouse and apartment. Park amenities feature an aquatic center, horse stables, tennis courts and more.Facts

Needs Work
The greens were terrible like putting on carpet in your living room. The traps need some sand put in them.
Tangle wood
Not a friendly staff except cart guy that checks me in. Place could be amazing. Reynolds is narrow and hilly. Many blind shots. Maybe The Donald could purchase and fix it up. A rest park surrounds this course. Maybe it was too early to get good conditions.
That's not a good golf course
Bad experience, bad conditions
Bad experience, bad conditions
Friendly & Value for your dollar Course
Pro Shop staff were very welcoming and inviting. The young lady running the place will make us Canadians stop into Winston-Salem every time what with her welcoming personality. Made us all feel at home!
BEST LAYOUT IN NORTH CAROLINA
After avoiding Tanglewood for the past 2 years due to negative reviews concerning course condition, I finally decided to give it a try due to recent positive reviews.
What a treat!! Best golf course layout I've played in North Carolina. Tanglewood reminds me of the great private golf courses around San Francisco (Olympic Club, Lake Merced and San Francisco GC). Very challenging course, well bunkered, beautiful setting and good course conditions. Maybe the best part was it cost $22 to walk at 8am on a perfect day and felt like I had the course to myself. Will return as soon as I can.
Only warning would be bunkers need some work.
Great course for the miney
Great course for the money.
Signs are a little confusing. Which course and hole for 1 and 10 on both courses is very confusing. I noticed several golfers confused.
Was on Championship #10 and group came upon us and should have been on #1 Championship.
#10 for the Reynolds course is about 1 mile from club house and not at all clearly marked how to get there.
fun course to play
Management needs to let players know if the greens have been air raided of not. Enjoyed the course but would not have played if I had known the greens were air raided.
Good value
This course was in good shape for this time of year.
Incorrect tee times
I tried to book a tee time on golf now in which there was a 8:30, 9:00, 9:40, 11:00, 11:50, and more after 12:00 but I called the course and they said they were fully booked. The course and golf now are nowhere near being on the same page with their tee time organizing.
The front nine greens need attention
The course was in decent shape but the front nine was very spotty and bumpy was a little disappointing but playing golf on the 21 day of December who in their right mind can complain !!! God Blessed Us With Great Weather !!!!!
Reservation Fee
Loved the course, 19th hole etc.but the reservation fee is more than half the cost of our round of golf.
I am retired, a Senior and on a fixed income and I thought it is was a bit high which makes the golf deal not as attractive as it initially sounded...
The other 3 guys of our foursome are Seniors and felt the same way about the reservation fee...

Was it worth it?
Yes it was worth it because we had a special deal for $10.00 on golf now. It would NOT be worth it for $11.00.
The greens were in bad shape and for first time players at the Reynolds course the course had a lot of doglegs that left the players wondering where the green was. Very few places on the course where the ball was actually even with your feet. The ball was almost always below or above your feet.
The course is going down the toilet
Leaves all over the green. Slow play and did not finish
Mostly Open Course
Nice course open fairways, with good protection around average to above average greens.
Highly disappointed.
Went on a Friday afternoon hot deal for $20. That was the best part. HOWEVER, my playing partner and I only played 14 holes, the last of which took a grand total of 28, yes, 28 minutes. One hole. 22 of those minutes were spent watching videos on our phones sitting in the fairway while a foursome playing captains choice, and a twosome following them also playing that format, goofed off and had no concern for anyone but themselves. A 4.5 hr round only allowed a twosome to play 14 holes. From the first tee we followed a group until the turn, which took 2.5 hours. Passed them on 10 only to find out we couldn't go anywhere bc apparently they were just one of 5 foursomes in the same group. Bottom line, NEVER ONCE SEEN A RANGER. Pathetic experience for such a good course. Reported our frustrations to no avail. As if they couldn't care less. Won't be back. Suggest you stay away if you don't have a full day. The organization of the facility is lackluster to say the least.
Terrible greens.
I have played this course a few times and the condition of the greens seem to get worse with each visit. The first green was covered with weeds and it gradually got better as we proceeded.
I definitely would not recommend.
Great Place
A few of the greens we bad, looked like crab grass was trying to take over. But over all great course, friendly staff, nice layout and we weren't rushed.
9-10-15 review
Played this the Championship course and think it is a really nice layout. Seemed like most of the elevation changes were uphill and require a club 10- 20 yards longer than the measured distance to the center. Greens are large.
With a little more attention to the greens and tees this can be a very good course.
Tanglewood
Nice layout and overall good course to play / fairways in the best of shape / greens need work as there are some weeds that are growing on the greens / lots of bunkers, but sand traps lack consistency / tee boxes could be in better shape considering resources available to keep it up / course is labelled as "Championship", but right now I would put it closer to "amateurism".
Slow play
A twosome had 5 groups waiting on a tee box while they goofed off on the green. No rangers to monitor this.
