Bad greens
Greens was very poor, had weeds bad spots , I would have hated to pay more than I did the price was appropriate for the conditions
Championship Course
Fairways were in great shape, the greens not so much... course looked good overall.
Solid course, but has seen better condition
Earlier this year, this course was in very good shape. Right now, it's not in as good a shape as it could be. Many of the greens on the front side have crabgrass growing inside them and the bunkers could really use some routine maintenance. We got a great deal for a last minute round so value-wise it was fine, but i would have hated to pay rack rate for the conditions we found.
Greens out of control
Tough mature course with lots of undulation. Tight fairways with overhanging limbs to further mess with your head. Unfortunately the greens were horrendous with crab grass out of control. This was not the case with the fairways which were in decent shape.
Good Course
Overal Good course. The greens on a few holes could use some work. Tight fairways and not much room to drive on hole. But good Course, friendly staff
Beautiful course
The natural way every hole fits with the country side. Deer running in the woods and every hole a challenge
8/22/2015 Reynolds course
Played here today. Bottom line, extremely disappointed with the overall course conditions. For such a place as Tanglewood, you'd figure they'd care a bit more about their name. It's sad really. Sure, some fairways looked good, some greens okay, but NOTHING had been mowed in what looked to be 3+ days. At least 50% of 95% of the greens were overtaken by crabgrass. I got it for $10 but wouldn't pay $20 to play it. Go elsewhere until they get this fixed. It's not worth it.
Poor Conditions
Several years ago I played the Reynolds Course quite frequently. I was always impressed with the design and the conditions. My son has recently started playing, so I thought I would show him what a nice course it was. The couse is set in a beautifully wooded area with abundant wildlife (Lots of deer). Its a nice layout with some very tight tree lined fairways. Unfortunately the condition is has gone downhill. The greens have alot of crabgrass, but roll well in spots where there is not any. The fairways and the tee boxes are in poor condition. In the rough there are some overgrown areas that are quite poorly maintained. The bunkers are awful...mostly clay dirt. It is a shame that Tanglewood has let this course get in this poor of condition. My son was not impressed and does not want to play it again.
Poor Condition
Not worth it! Greens in very poor shape as is the rest of the course. Avoid and play championship if possible.
Poor Maintenance
Greens are infested with goose grass. Greens are burned out in many places. Little rough, just narrow fairways and then woods that are not cleared of any limbs, leaves, etc. You can see all the income at Tanglewood golf goes to maintaining the Championship course and little to the :everyday" golfers course.
Good times!
I always have a great time on this course. The greens are in great shape and the course is in good condition. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. When I get the golf itch during the week, and want a reasonably priced greens fee this is the course I book.
What has happened to this gem?!
I have been playing this course for years and have never seen it in such terrible condition! Weeds in the greens. Weeds in the bunkers. No sand in the bunkers. No water in the ball washers. And, the list goes on and on... Yes, the weather is partially to blame but the sense of neglect is unmistakeable. For $25, it was an enjoyable afternoon. For the full rack rate? Forget it! C'mon Tanglewood -- you're better than this!
Very slow pace
The slowest pace I've played in a very long time !!!
Reynolds
Some crabgrass on several of the first greens was disappointing. Never pulled my driver as course is very old w tight fairways due to mature trees. Was a challenge for sure. Gladly go back again
Great Course
I enjoyed the golf course and the greens were excellent.
Old School
Tanglewood is a step back in time. Facilities look the same as they were when the likes of Trevino, Player and Palmer graced its presence. Course is a tight heavily bunkered layout. Most of the traps are red clay with pebbles and rocks littered throughout. Greens roll fairly true and are well contoured but by no means unfair. Public play has taken its toll on them but nothing above the norm. Fairways were sparse with grass and several places looked re-sodded. Overall would say it's a great course to experience due to legacy but not somewhere I would play more than once a year just to say I did. Too many other good tracks surrounding here.
Course under repair
Green were under repair hard to play around . other wise course was around average .
course in very bad condition
took group 30 minutes to play 1st hole 4 players [laying out of 2 bags
Greens Fine... Fairways and Tees Rough
I want to start by saying that the overall layout of the course was interesting. The back side had a lot of character to it, with the front side being a bit more open. The greens rolled pretty well with only a few varying from the normal rolling conditions of the others. The fairways and tee boxes were my only complaint. Taking a peek at the Championship course, it was pretty evident that the Reynolds course has been neglected for a while. Most tee boxes seemed to be dying out with the remaining patches of grass providing for an uneven place to stand while swinging. The fairways seemed patchy, but this is fairly understandable given the winter damage that much of the triad experienced this year.
Overall, I feel that this course could be very interesting with healthy turf, and I will probably play it again next year to see if the grounds improve.
Lots of character
Fun layout and nice greens.
Good value for the money......especially with a hot tee time.
